I agree with the above to an extent. No doubt she is amazing at what she does, but let's give her a few more albums before we say something about female pop-version of Eminem lol

Well in terms of success she'll never reach that. Eminem was a cultural phenomenon and something like that will probably never come around again in terms of records broken and albums sold and all that.

But Lana has the dark imagery (not only dark for her genre but dark in general), and according to what she says, this album will sound nothing like her last one. So it looks like every album will spark a new stylistic era, similar to what Em has. The SSLP/MMLP era, TES/8 Mile era, Encore era, Relapse Era, Recovery era, MMLP 2 era. So she'll have the BTD/Paradise era, UV era, and we'll see if the trend continues.

Eminem has been in the commercial game 15 years and his body of work is much more extensive than Lana's, but I think comparisons are already there.

I see where you're going and I'm inclined to agree with you. All I'm saying is give her time. :y:

I'm kinda sorry she says the album will sound nothing like Born to die, because I love it. To me it was almost perfect.

Don't really think we can compare Lana and Eminem, they are very different, as artists too. And their lifes are very different too. But I would love a song of both together. She is a big fan. So she would do it.

She said the album is nothing like Born To Die, BUT it's also cinematic, orchestral, and epic (just like Born To Die). I dunno what to think. I think it'll be incredible though.

If it really is dropping in May, hopefully we get a single soon. Mid March-ish? Late March?

LDR is infinitely better than Lorde, IMO.

I hate when people compare them. I adore Born to die. And I don't like Lorde.

I wasn't implying that lol.

I was saying that Lorde and LDR are in the same lane.

I think their fan base is way different. I don't know any Lorde fans who like Lana and vice versa.

You couldn't pay me to listen to Lorde. Not feeling her at all and that was before the "beef" or whatever you want to call it where Lorde said Lana makes irrelevent music or whatever.

Just like there are all different types of rappers out there and even rappers that have similar styles, you may not listen to all of them just because you don't like them.

In any event, I think Ultra-Violence is gonna be the album that puts her on the map commercially.

I think BTD was a slow burn in the sense that not a lot of people were up on it initially for a variety of reasons but since its release, and the release of Paradise, the Young And Beautiful song that got a lot of play and a lot of press for being snubbed at the Oscars - I think more people have jumped on the LDR bandwagon.

So I think this album will sell more just because of that and I also expect the album to be better than BTD which I think is fantastic, and she'll really take off. That's my hope at least. I think she's too good to be in the shadows while other pop acts are having their bubblegum lyrics written for them. Although I also know her dark lyrics are part of what's holding her back from being a bigger name

You're blinded by the fame :p

Lorde's actually dope. Lana is a little different, more complex if you will. I'm just not into that at the moment :)

The fame? When I started to listen Lana she was a completely unknown in my country.

I have to say that I don't like pop music, 90% of what I listen is rock, but I connected very well with Lana, the lyrics, the songs, the videos....I listen to Lorde and to me is just another indie pop artist, something that I don't enjoy in particullary.

Maybe I won't like the next Lana's album, I can't know, but Born to die for me is a masterpiece.

Lana is nothing like Eminem.

Well musically they're nothing alike, but style wise or maybe even personality wise, there are similarities.

That's why Em has worked with pop singers like Pink, and Rihanna (both seen as bad asses in their own right) as opposed to Katy Perry and other similar artists.

If news dropped tomorrow that Em and Lana were going to collab on a song, I think it would be more well received than if it was a more bubblegum/mainstream pop singer. Because their public personas are similar.

They're both seen as edgy. They're both seen as having dark lyrics, etc etc.

It's why this thread is as big as it is. I'm not surprised there are some Em fans out there that like LDR.

Less than one month for the album release and still no single or leaks...

Edit to say that the new single will be called "West coast".
