Headlights

11/10? Fug that. Headlights is good n all but not even a top 5 track yo.

I just watched the Berzerk video again, that shit is straight classic, and the song is actually coo as fuck; production is fucking awesome, the hook is amazing and his verses are pretty fly - seemed lackluster at first but it's because all those effects seemed to overwhelm shit... but the overall vibe of it feels fresh as fuck and an actual reinvention of the era actually, like Rhyme or Reason and Rap God... the shit is just pure funky and nostalgic yet feels like a fresh as fuck sound, but has the MMLP spirit of piss taking seriousness.

I think if they could have kept up some kind of sound continuity based on that Berzerk beat... and that nostalgic vibe and just if the songs could have sounded more connected like that, and then take off the Recovery 2.0 tracks - the shit coulda been a masterpiece fo sho.

Classic songs but just a slight shame of ''what it could have been'' again for me. Because all the elements were there for it to be a mind-blowing classic. Just a confused sonic aim again.

I always think I hate Legacy till I actually listen to it.
Personally, I think a song's 10/10 if there isn't anything I'd change about it, and Legacy kinda fits that.
About the 10/10 songs from Recovery, no comment.
Maybe SpaceBound though, been playing the song a lot recently.

I just listened to Em's ''Drop the World'' verse and now got ''Rap God'' on... his level of improvement on every level is immense. The impact of his lines and ideas even... immense improvement.

He really put the work in from 2010-13 to improve like a mother fucker rap-wise.

I remember the BET cypher was the 'turn around' point, for me at least.

Yeah definitely. I love that verse and it's a major improvement over Recovery and BME.

Em's part as Matthew shouting at Em in the car on Bad Guy is boss as fuck.

Sounds really dramatic and LIVE like Stan. Makes me wish he had utilized some more ''live voice acting'' / scenes like that for the rest of the album or another concept or something too though.

I've been listening to the album a lot lately. Damn.. still good and I was noticing the only lower points of this album are between So Much Better and Survival and then on Stronger Than I Was/The Monster. It's like this (starting with Bad Guy, finishing with Don't Front and not counting the skit):

10-9-7-7-8-8-8-10-9-8-7-8-8-9-9(-9)

Bonus:

9-7-9-8-8

I'm loving his last verse on ''Love Game'' even more.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

I don't get the So Much Better hate.

Song is certified 9/10 dope. Image

Hella outta place though, like Survival, Legacy, Asshole, Monster, STIW... fuck as a matter of fact nothing gels. All the songs are good-amazing but it's literally like an album of all of his album styles.

Not even thematically yo... just sound-wise.

It sounds like TES meets a good version of Encore... you got that dramatic piano Em production... and the concept is too... committed in a way, hm, or themed. Like... MMLP material felt ''free-wheeling'' like he was just rattling off, and Rhyme or Reason and Rap God capture that... but after that he began to create ''theme songs'more, like FEMALE TRACK etc. and it would just feel too... crafted to a topic.

That track feels like a 02-04 Em song and not some fresh sound and loose/funny vibe like RoR... feels off.

I think it's his style of writing/rapping on it too is what I mean. Like, he's being funny but he's very loud and serious, more like TES Em. RoR Em feelsand sounds MMLP-esque, So Much Better Em doesn't at all.

Lmao, not even close.

How about because it has no identifying sound or feel and is a random assortment of Eminem songs with vastly different styles making for an album with no lasting identity.

SSLP, MMLP and TES are absolutely miles better as albums.

The only thing MMLP2 may be his best at in spots is his lyricism/rapping.

It's also not as musically unique in any spots as any of those albums because all of those albums were personal visions each time in comparison to just taking ready-made beats and hooks and filling in verses ala Monster, Survival etc. - these are template tracks which is an artistic disgrace in comparison to crafting your own song from scratch; even Em's singles on MMLP1 were entirely unique and personal creations back to front.

MMLP2 is better than Recovery and Encore, but nowhere near his best album and as an ALBUM - not very good at all. As singular songs? Very decent, and some of his coolest work... but that's it.
