Kendrick Lamar Talks About His Sophomore Album & Black Hippy

Postby Raul » Apr 26th, '14, 01:25

Kendrick Lamar has been extremely scarce with details about his forthcoming sophomore album, the follow up to his debut, good kid, m.A.A.d. city, which garnered him 7 Grammy nominations and the international spotlight. His label head, Anthony Tiffith, better known as Top Dawg, revealed to Billboard magazinethat Lamar’s second LP would most likely be released this coming September, and Kendrick himself said he doesn’t have a tentative date, but production of the album is definitely underway.

On his impending sophomore album:

No tentative date, I’m in the studio now with ideas and things like that and just seeing where it takes me. I look at each project as a journey. I couldn’t give a stable idea of what I’m doing, but it will definitely be a deal.

On a possible collaborative Black Hippy effort:

Yeah, Black Hippy, we’re moving around man. They’ll be getting something soon. They might get a few early freestyles or something, ’cause I know fans are heated for us.

Probably not gonna see this album until 2015 if he's only just throwing around ideas then..

He can take all the time he needs. As long as it comes out amazing, I don't mind.

This will be his most important album of his career. This will determine if he'll be in the conversation when it comes to the top5 or not. And I think he knows that.

Fixed. Its too early in his career for anyone to even mention him in a top 5 list, regardless of this album or not.
