I love the way he says the same vowel sound there three times in a row. It's so cool.

I dunno, but, ''I said shut up when I'm talking to you... you hear me? Answer me!'' pretty brilliantly encapsulates a lot of what Eminem is, in one concise line.

You got the play anger, an imaginary violent scenario, the play on fem hate, the psychosis and a beautiful ironic punchline all in one. And it's delivered like a dramatist-meets-comedian-pro-actor.

But, despite the musical inconsistency of the ''new Em era'' (09-14)... he's come up with some pretty incredible lyricism and all-time great lines and phrasing since his return. He may not be able to put albums together the same way, but his skullfuckery of words and expanding lyricism is still right in the upper echelon.

If we're talking more recently... ''To be truthful - the blueprint's - simply rage and youthful exuberance'' and ''everybody loves to root for a nuisance'' are right up there. Not only what he's saying, which for the first time in a while is genuinely eloquent and smooth - but for ''youthful exuberance'' and ''root for a nuisance'' to rhyme in such a consistent context... it just reminds me of how I used to feel in his prime when the sentences seem to just naturally rhyme and I would think ''why the fuck haven't I noticed that those words rhyme together before'' and it almost seems too convenient. Like rhymes are just falling in to place as he speaks.

What I mean by that is not that you would casually speak in that way, as you wouldn't; I think phrase formatting SHOULD be elevated and sound quite affected. As it's art, not conversation. There needs to be some poetry in how it's put together. BUT, with 90% of rappers - whenever they do multi's especially, and especially even so called god-underground rappers: it sound so blatant the way they've slapped phrases together in bunches or just a really clunky sounding sequence, using words unintentionally out of context and just sounding like you can hear the messy labour in their work. Where as ''everybody loves to root for a nuisance'' is a perfectly eloquent and smart phrase which stands on its own, and it perfectly multi-rhymes with the previous (also smart and smooth sounding sentence) phrasing, without sacrificing the feeling of organic expression.

And he comes up with such cool-ass ways of expressing ideas. A lot of rappers would express those ideas in a much more simplistic, first-person kind of way such as ''I'm raging, I'm ... '' as apposed to ''Well, to be truthful - the blueprint's... simply rage and youthful exuberance'' - as if he's engaged in conversation and responding and looking outside of himself etc.

Similarly, to refer to himself as a ''nuisance'', although seeming like a purely convenient rhyme choice for exuberance; it downplays what he's doing, is self-aware and tongue-in-cheek in a way where most similar kind of rappers would exaggerate rather than nonchalantly and quite accurately describe themselves (and also communicate about or to the listener in a more generic way aka ''you people'' or ''they say I'm...'' ), but again in a self-referential, parable kind of way... ''everybody loves to root for... '' (prior to downplaying himself, he recognizes the stature of what he's done and is doing, just like on MMLP1, in that wording. Characterizing the mindset of a fictional crowd watching a showman, as apposed to just generically addressing the listener) - commenting on the minds of the listeners and implying what he is, in a really concise and badass way. Little three dimensional elements on how to express ideas like that, is what truly separates Eminem. And it's the kind of thing dumb-ass shit rap fans who love to lazily throw around ''he's overrated because he's white'' card miss regularly. Most people focus so much on content only, and think they focus on how it's delivered but really just care about rhyme and flow.

Marshall Mathers the rapper's persona's half a facade
And Matthew and Stan's just symbolic
Of you not knowing what you had 'til it's gone

''I'm the bad guy who makes fun of people who die''
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

Love everything about this post :y: especially the part where it feels like the words fall perfectly into place, iv had many a discussion about that. it really is incredible.

these line from white america are some of my favorites " hip-hop was never a problem in harlem only in boston, after it bothered the fathers of daughters startin to blossom" & "see the problem is i speak to suburban kids/ who otherwise woulda never knew these words exist/ and moms prolly woulda never woulda gave two squirts of piss/till i created so much motherfuckin turbulence"

recently " But in my head, theres a voice in the back and it hollers/ after the track is demolished i am your lack of conscience/ im the ringing in your ears, im the polyps on the back of your tonsils, eatin your vocal chords after your concerts....." really that entire verse lol is fucking incredible.

"think youre one of a kind like you got some platinum vagina" makes me laugh everytime, maybe im just really immature but i love that line haha.
" Life can change your directions, even when you ain't planned it
All you can do it handle it, worst thing you can do is panic
Use it to your advantage, avoid insanity manage
To conquer, every obstacle, make impossible possible
Even when winning illogical, losing is still far from optional.." -T.I.

Underrated line.

Now that I think about it, tons of stuff from the finale of Bad Guy is definitely some of the best imo

I've lost my mind, caution oh God I think I've just thought of another fucking line
