Why hasn't Recovery stood the test of time?

Postby Mr Evil » Jun 29th, '14, 14:52

I like Recovery but overall it is my least favourite Eminem album. This wasn't the case when it came out though obviously, I actually liked it much more than Relapse when it first dropped and listened to it day in day out, ranting and raving about it in school.
But the album just somehow got so stale so quick for me and I had stopped listening to it long before Space Bound dropped as a single, instead I went back to all his older work again (including Encore yes). This hasn't happened with MMLP2 at all as I still play that regularly and enjoy it in full.
There is no single thing that I can circle to say why I don't revisit this album much at all. As I said - I do like it but every time I go to listen to the full album I veer off and put another one on, it just became a bit of a chore to sit through after a only few months. I didn't burn it out cause I've listened to MMLP2 far more by now and it's still so re-playable.
Same with you guys?

Ps. This isn't a Recovery vs. blah blah thread

There's some songs I still bump but I can't listen to the album as a whole anymore.
Fuck top five, bitch, I'm top four
And that includes Biggie and Pac, whore
And I got an Evil Twin
So who the fuck do you think that third and that fourth spot's for?

Mainly because of the production and formulaic hooks and the fact that his delivery gets annoying quickly.

tes easily has the best replay value as a project. and it's not just op who thinks recovery is at or near the bottom of that list. I bumped it every day, it was the best thing ever. then hts dropped and recovery went straight in the trash cept the occasional listen to seduction or almost famous

I hadn't listened to Recovery in awhile since last Saturday when I listened to the CD from start to finish in the car (cuz my bluetooth was acting up). It's a classic and one of my favorite albums. Idk why I had kind of forgotten about it for awhile. I guess cuz I was obsessed with it the first 6 months it was out, maybe I had gotten my fill of it.
