Question about recommending Eminem's music to someone

Postby Raul » Jul 20th, '14, 22:30

Would you recommend Infinite as the first album or would you say 'listen to his discography in order, start with SSLP.

How would you recommend Eminem to a person who wants to listen to his work?

Start with The Eminem Show, since it's my favorite album of all time. Then if you like it go back to the SSLP and listen to the whole discography in the right order.

Id pick songs that you think encompass him the best. I dont think the first impression of Eminem should be infinite, unless you know theyre gonna sit through every single one of his albums.

Listen to SSLP, MMLP, TES, Devil's Night, HTS and MMLP2.

Only ones that matter.

Uh, no. Why did you skip Encore, Relapse, and Recovery? All are vital parts of Em's discography. HTS on the other hand is completely unecessary.

Seems like the most sensible approach, provided that you're dealing with someone whose interest is genuine rather someone looking to go through things just to say they did.

Eminem has shown enough variety over his career that you could also pick and choose among his songs to reflect that.

poeple legitimately thought just lose it was a fake first single to discourage piracy. luckily some people including me feel the rest of the album wasn't a total loss. above the law is super dope though

Firstly, except for Encore, no. Secondly, if Relapse and Recovery are trash, HTS is dogshit. Third, it's not a question of quality. If you skip Encore, Relapse, and Recovery, you skim over half of the recommended artist's discography. If someone was actually trying to get into Eminem's music, then skipping half of his albums is bad idea.
