They're no trash lol (apart from Encore who some extrememly shitty tracks), but those three do not feel like Eminem albums at all.
But in all honesty, do you truly believe Recovery is a good album?
It displays an attempt at a man compromising his artisty in order to try to satisfy a younger and more pop-culture oriented crowd. Working with hyped producers and having pop hooks in order to try to appeal is probably one of the most un-eminem decisions he ever made. He was just trying to play it safe after Relapse's reception, why would I want to recommend an album like that?
Relapse on the other hand, while I do praise its creativity, uniqueness and cohesiveness, isn't core Eminem. It takes a true Em fan to appreciate what he did on Relapse, so recommending Em's weird fantasy to a casual rap listen might seem a little unappreciative to the taste. It might not be their cup of tea just yet, I would recommend albums with the core Eminem sound before I recommed the deeper cuts.

Good response. I definitely agree with not listening to Relapse first, but it is something you definitely need to listen to if you're trying to get into Em. Especially tracks like Deja Vu.
I'd give Recovery a 5.5 out of 10. Em has always had some kind of pop-oriented stuff on each of his albums. His lead single shows this. He did compromise more on Recovery than on any other album, but the core Eminem feel is still there. No album with the opening lines "YOU CAN GET THE DICK, JUST CALL ME THE BALLSACK, I'M NUTS" or a track like On Fire is on a completely pop album. Yes, I would definitely recommend an album like that because it showcases an important part of Em's career; his getting back on his feet after his drug addiction and Proof's death.
It's not a good or great album, but it is certainly necessary to listen to if you want to get into Eminem.

The person has to see everything that that artist has done, not just what you think are the highs, and decide for themselves what they think about it. Once they've listened to everything they can decide if they're a fan or not.

i think TES is the most accessible album for a newbie, if there's still someone out there who hasn't heard Eminem
