you know how they say no one will ever love you if you don't love yourself? well em hates relapse because it represents all the weakness and bullshit and difficulty he was going through and would never want to repeat. after hearing him sound so much like himself again on mmlp2 it's honestly hard to listen to.

some people confuse "cult classic" with "so bad it's good". I'm not one of those people

Yes!! considering that cult is his core fans (not stans but core hip-hop fans)

EDIT: I mean its the first time i hear that this album is praised among other hip-hop fans in general and not HIS fanbase

I would say so, although there's probably groups of people close to the same size that feel Encore or Infinite are amazing albums. There is intense followings of fans for every single one of his albums, the only thing that separates Relapse was it's commercial/critical failure.

There's such a small percentage that think the album is really good that it couldn't be considered a cult classic.

It would be a cult classic for only this forum..but this forum already thinks it's a classic though so

I think most people hold Relapse in such high regard because they can see that it's far better than anyone initially gave it credit for.

Which can be considered a characteristic for a cult classic. The fact that Eminem himself has bashed the album makes it all so much more interesting.

Yeah, I myself do hold it as a cult classic. I actually don't think there's a bad song on the album.

If Em had dropped an actual classic instead of Recovery nobody would care about Relapse.

He did the best thing he could do. Dropped whack album and has been silent for 3 years so people started to appreciate Relapse, calling it classic etc. and then after 3 years he dropped another album and thirsty fans called it instant classic.

If he dropped a real classic in 2010 no one would care about Relapse and people would look different at MMLP2 because they would have different standards.
