Anthony Fantano is on point though, couldn't have said it better myself.

I still think "i" is the single though.... it's being promoted that way.

Anthony wanted some deep lyrics with extraordinary wordplay and gritty imagery... on Kendrick's 1st single knowing that Interscope wants a hit.
