Ho-l-y SHIT.
First off - I haven't listened to anybody else yet as I was just too excited to hear Em, so I skipped to him.
Gonna go back and listen to everybody else now.
But @ Em... what the FUCK. He's on like a completely unseen level right now, that was OUT-OF-THIS-WORLD.
Any suggestion of clumsiness in his rhymes, ideas, wit or any aspect is dead. The level of fucking density in his ideas-rhymes-delivery-all-round-performance is un-believable.
Also nobody improves like Em. Heard a bit of Royce's and he sounds alright but not much better/different than 2011. Where as Em? Wtf. Compare than shit to even BME verses - a billion light years better.
I honestly can't imagine him getting any better than I hear him there, that's fucking ridiculous.
But - also, extremely frustrating. To hear him THAT good but to not have a classic album out of him again yet is just like HHHH - Em - Man, just fucking stick to a sound and a theme and bang out an all-time masterpiece. His lyricism and performance right now deserve a masterpiece album to cement the era. MMLP2 was not it.
Also... I can't see how he's going to make an album harder than MMLP2 too now, as again he seems to have improved even from MMLP2 recordings but how he is going to make an album as harsh and full of attitude as this freestyle - yet more impressive and harsh than MMLP2 and not make MMLP2 look stupid? Whatever he makes will just make everyone feel like 'Fuck. Thiiis should have been MMLP2', but that title is now forever stuck to those batch of songs and yet it seems like he's massively improving yet again.
Fuck man. He's in a totally unique place with his skill. And anybody who thinks I just mean rhymes... (well, firstly YES @ rhymes as WTF - this is like alien rap. Yeah people like Tech and Twista can create the initial wow factor but never say as much and can't deliver dramatic 'human' lines / the range of emotion and bewilderment delivering ideas like a voice artist) is a retard - and his lyrics and ideas have substance again and he does actually have that potent 'MMLP mix' now where he's mixing his real life with snippets of social commentary + humour + wow factor rhymes... but I would imagine he's going to move on to a different sound soon or maybe slow down, which would suck ass as it feels like this era of mind-blowing brilliance has been wasted in terms of album material.
We got some amazing songs @ MMLP2 but fuck, just wish we had an album of it where it just felt like one 16 track mind-fuck and no 'fuck is this' and 'doesn't fit' moments.
Also, he just proved my prior points about him performing in current battle rap era that, despite many people and fans saying he wouldn't be able to do it; wouldn't sound right, would sound clumsy or simplistic or not be able to match the level of intensity... I told all of you who said that - you have dull imaginations, to not be able to hear what he does within tracks and easily see how he can adapt that to something totally unique like this.
Em here proved that:
a) He absolutely would sound monsterous and way beyond even the best current battle rappers / be able to do what they do but even better with his vocal range and dramatic performance style.
b) He would tear anybody the fuck to shreds. This shit is just him fucking around and creating a wow factor but imagine this + him being able to read about and study somebody + his wit and how personal he can get. He would fucking destroy people.
- That would actually be a DOPE fucking idea too. Imagine Em just casually competing against current big battle rappers now, he should fucking do that to cement himself in a whollle new light to a whollle new generation of MCs who think he's just the guy from 8 Mile or older school battle rapper.
Who the fuck keeps improving like he does. All other greats just stay at a 'great level' or regress. He sounds like some new fucking mind blowing rapper who's never been heard before here... and he's fucking 42! and 15 years deep. Crazy.
PS. When people actually 'compare' Jay and Nas to Em - albums aside for a moment - just in terms of who's a better rapper. Who's more skilled and talented... are they deaf or what? Because nobody else breathing in current rap space - especially Jay and Nas ffs are anywhere - CLOSE - to that guy who just spit. Like, it's not even a close call, it's like a cheetah running alongside a fucking midget and us watching the cheetah wiz past at 70mph like 'hmm, I think the midget is faster tbh'.
He performed just like a modern battle rapper there with the little ad libs and build ups of intensity and shit. And it also just shows how much of a different level he's on even than prime Em. As prime Em could not make an accapella rap sound that exciting, dramatic or brilliant. It would be dope af and maybe each line individually had more impact but... what I just saw was incredible. New level.
