Eminem is still a beast with wordplay, complex rhyming, etc.

Guts Over Fear and Detroit vs Everybody sound like a bit of a regress from HTS and MMLP2. I'm a big fan of the dude, just being honest in my own personal opinion. I'm such a fan, I want him to get the universal respect he deserves. I understand there's going to be people who 100% hate anything new Em does, but at least HTS and MMLP2 he kind of silenced the critics a bit.

Perhaps we need to accept the fact that Eminem can do such a wide range of styles now, that he cannot satisfy his entire fan-base simultaneously. Add to that there will always be a few hits and misses because he wants to try many new styles.

It's just that someone starts saying "Oh, he only raps fast now" and it somehow becomes a thing and the slower songs are never noticed (GoF..and a bunch of other songs on MMLP2). The other stereotypes running around are "choppy flow", "no ear for production", "repetitive material". And we know it's not always "choppy flow", always....he has sufficient variety in his recent work to be more than satisfied.

I'm not sure I understand, you're saying MMLP2 was dope; but the newer verses (from 2 new songs - of which you liked the 2nd verse of G>F) you didn't like.
So basically this entire complaint:

Rap Genius has mad mistakes as of right now, I started writing the lyrics down but I'm exhausted and going to sleep so here's what I have so far if anyone wants to finish it and get the actual correct lyrics:

He was doing the same shit on Guts Over Fear, happened execute the 2nd verse well though IMO. First verse was meh not feeling it. This verse, same. Not feeling it.

Calm Down verse....wasn't feeling it. Though it had some good lines. Same problem with TDPT....good lines, complex rhymes, terrible to listen to because he's just packing rhymes for the sake of doing it.

I'm saying it's like he's sacrificing the sound of the music or his verse in particular to be overly technical and cram as much as he can into every single bar, just for the sake of doing it. It's fine with something like Rap God where it worked well or Love Game 3rd verse to a degree.

But it seems, based on Calm Down/GOF/DVE that he's going to be doing this on the whole Shady XV. And that'd be a shame. DVE could have been an EPIC verse from him if he slowed it down, restructured it, probably could have had another minute of rhyming if he structured it to fit the beat.

And before someone says I'm bitching about wanting the old Em back.........

Nah....I heard him a year ago doing stuff like Bad Guy, Groundhog Day, Brainless, Baby, Evil Twin, etc. He's capable, I just don't know what he's thinking lately with this. His features this year and these tracks aside from 1 verse on Guts Over Fear....it sounds like a regress.

I listened to his cypher freestyle again and I still don't get how he can rap like that, it's just too awesome.
