Come on, do you really want him to rap in a choppy way like this all the time from now on ? 'cause in my honest opinion, it's not much the verse that bothers people here, but the fear that he's gonna do it for every verse of the album. At least, that's the case for me.

If he sounds different on the rest of the album, maybe his DvE verse will grow on me ... But if everything he spits from now on is similar to this, I'm gonna have a rough time

I may dislike the verse (kind of), but I do acknowledge it as a good verse, technically. I'm not feeling it for what could be considered a superficial reason, that's okay though. As long as I'm not saying "it's a bad verse and no one should like it" I can dislike it for any reason.

You make a point. Actually, everybody wanted to believe Survival was NOT on the album haha. But yeah, at the end of the day it has nothing in common with the rest of the LP. Let's just wait ... I still have a good feeling about it. I'm not disappointed. Just a little bit more doubtful.

The only reason Em rapped like a maniac on this track is cuz he's not gonna let anyone outshine him on his own labels album and especially by people who aren't even on the label lol get over it... He slaughtered it
On a side note Royce was nice and I think Sean brought his A game as well... The beat is awesome!

No i dont want him to do it every song. HE didnt do it every song with MMLP2. Rap God released and i was like "wow, is every song gonna be like this"? And it wasnt. This was a great flow and i love it. of course if he used this or another flow for every song it would suck. and he wont. hes shown hes not going to (gof). I am excited for this shit. i have a feeling this will be better than mmlp2 and were gonna get material on the same level as mmlp or even better (we already have with the cypher).

That's reasonable enough. I don't think he'd let himself do that all the time though, he doesn't like sounding the same too often. It's one verse off an entire album, and it's already obvious it's not going to be like that the whole way through with Guts Over Fear existing. But I don't consider this "choppy" by any means, and I feel like people's definition of "choppy" changes every few months. His verse on Slaughterhouse's "Our House" was a lot choppier than anything he's done since and his album wasn't like that at all.

Agreed.

nicknem wrote:It clearly doesn't fit. I'm glad some people agree with this. I mean I'm always defending Em and I consider him the greatest but still: this sucks. The other ones killed it though. The beat was perfect for some old school Em :(

I don't know you tbh, but the only time I've seen you recently is to say that his cypher sucked and his verse on this was wack.

Cypher is dope. Never said it sucks. I just said it's pretty much the same thing he does all the time. But it's a freestyle so I don't have any problem with him rapping fast, or not on the beat (since there's no beat haha). Cypher is more than dope.

His verse is technically good but overall it sucks big time. Rap is not always a skill contest. You have to know how to write songs too. Sometimes it seems like he forgot how to

Real talk! I have a feeling that track #1 will be a slower flow with a long hook and melo beat...

StayWideAwake wrote:Jaba is actually right lol. When Rap God came out everyone was making the same arguments about how it's going to suck if everything is like this. But it released, and was much more balanced and people could chill out a little.

People just have issues with judging shit WAY too fucking early. When "Guts Over Fear" came out everyone was expecting Em to drop the Slim Shady thing and just be serious. Then came the cypher where he's talking about hitting women and raping Anderson Cooper or whatever, and this where he's referencing a child beater. Happened with MMLP2 with all his guest appearances and "Survival", people just don't know how to let go and wait instead of making frantic assumptions.

I thoroughly enjoyed his flow on this track, also liked everyone else's as well.

Peeps complaining about him heading in this direction oughta know by now that Em is always switching his flow/style up. Stop being babies mang

I'm not making any assumptions. I'm just saying that I hate this verse and I hope he doesn't continue with that flow. That's all lol

Besides Em rarely if ever uses the same flow in every song... He's mentioned in interviews that he switches his flow up on every song or at least tries to...
