He gave us Relapse, Recovery, H:TS, MMLP2 and now Shady XV. He's clearly different, he's not going to sound like whatever you think he should sound like.
You can't deal with that? Just move on, find another artist that you'd slit your wrist for. You think you're giving constructive opinions but it's basically been the same since he came back, it's fuckin' pathetic. But hey, you'll never be successful enough to be happy with yourselves so I get why you stay on forums 24/7 just to say the same thing over and over again. Clap for 'em, ladies and gentlemen.
It's not as black and white as this. I love everything about Relapse. It's my favorite Eminem album, although I know it isn't his absolute best. He was dope between that and Recovery. And then he was garbage for Recovery up until Hell: The Sequel and he was okay. Started getting a choppy flow. MMLP2 had some decent songs but failed with some beats, hooks, inconsistencies. This album just has some pretty bad flows on it, although I think it's decent on a Hell: The Sequel level. The thing is that each album he has has highlights and lowlights. When you invested a lot of care and love towards an artist for like ten years, you still look forward to their new material, especially when you don't know what to expect at all with the sound... Such is the case with Eminem. His new stuff has things I praise and things I think are horrible. I'll never stop caring about his material, but I will be fair when judging his stuff. That's just where a lot of people fall.
Exactly. That's not black and white.
Let's take this new album.
1.Shady XV? Don't really like the flow, the same as on So Far, not a fan of the beat, the voices on the beat are too strong and sometimes I can't even hear what he says. Lyrics are not that interesting except for some references to older stuff. Flow doesn't fit well on the beat.
2.PK: great song but Em's flow doesn't fit on the beat again, it's not a bad verse but it's not great either.
3: Die Alone: great until this HORRIBLE AWFUL hook. Again the beat is weird and too bad Em's verses are a bit short. Could have been a great song.
4: Vegas. Nothing to say. Innovative, fun, well written, good flow. Give us more like this.
^: Guts Over Fear: I frankly love it except for the "Guuuuuts ooooveeeer feaaaar" part. The flow is good and steady, great lyrics and he tells an interesting story in this one.
9: Fine Line: great, great. Good flow even if some weird shouting moments, good beat, ok hook, interesting theme and lyrics.
10: twisted: Weird but ok, I won't listen to it a lot.
11: Right for Me: Unlistenable to me. I understand why a lot of you love it but for me it's just not a song. he might as well have done it a-capella if he wanted to do a freestyle.
12: DvE: Finally like his verse but still, a lot of "too-fast and too complicated" rapping
So overall for me it has 3 very good songs, some average and one or two very bad... Won't change the fact that I'm still a fan but I cant pretend like everything is awesome when it's not.
