Postby Rob » Sep 21st, '06, 02:16

Just seen on the news that Top Gear presenter, Richard Hammond has been critically injured while filming a British Landspeed record at RAF Elvington airfield near York.

He was driving a 300mph rocket car and was on his final run when it lost control, veering onto the grass before rolling several times. It is believed that Hammond had previously broken the record of 300.3mph just minutes before the crash occured.

The car, which was believed to be at around 180mph at the time of the accident was badly smashed, leaving the TV star with serious head, and back injuries. He was flown straight to Leeds hospital after recieving emergency treatment at the scene.

His wife and 2 dauhters are currently with him, and his condition is listed as 'stable'.
