Graffiti artists SABER, EARSNOT, CLAW, and TOOMER are set to star in a new feature-length documentary called Infamy. The film is brought to you in part by the same company behind the popular Beef DVD series; QD3 Entertainment.
Infamy chronicles the lives of seven obsessed graff-writers as their craft leads them into dangerous and unexpected predicaments. The film was directed by Doug Pray-whose previous works includes Scratch, a flick he directed on Hip-Hop's DJ culture, and American Pimp, a documentary by the Hughes' brothers that he edited. The film was executive produced, in part, by Quincy D. Jones III (QD3).
With a cast that includes an openly gay writer from NYC known as EARSNOT, along with a female artist named CLAW, the film illustrates the various different types of people involved in the male heterosexual dominated subgenre.
"I didn't want to make another 'scene-movie' or a general overview of subculture and its history," said Pray via a statement. "Instead, we've set out to create a more hard-hitting, personal portrayal of the pain and joy of being addicted to the only illegal art form there is. These are intensely passionate individuals, they are incredibly talented at destroying surfaces with spray paint, and they don't like cameras... What more could you ask for in a subject?"
Infamy is scheduled to debut in New York in mid to late September during the RESfest, where it will then proceed to open in over 35 cities around the world. The DVD will hit stores in February 2006 by Image Entertainment.
