Two black men who were asked by a white Arizona police officer to rap their way out of a littering ticket are filing claims against the city, alleging their civil rights were violated.
An attorney for one of the men says his client wants a letter of apology, as well as $50,000 to repair his reputation and self-respect.
The other man is asking for $500,000. His attorney says he's "been portrayed as a clown," and that it's made him "emotionally disturbed, reclusive and embarrassed."
The August incident was recorded for a Tempe, Arizona, police-produced cable TV show called "Tempe StreetBeat." The men were seen rapping, as the officer had requested.
The city attorney had no comment on the claims.
