The greatest of rivals for so many years, the history between Jay-Z and Nas has been well documented. However, the two could be about to settle their differences.
It's alleged that Jay-Z will bring out Nas to perform at his Power House concert (27 October) and together target rappers who they have beef with.
Rumours are rife in New York that Nas maybe joining the Def Jam army, headed by Jigga.
Here's why we think Jay-Z might sign Nas to his label... or as many reasons why he may not.

"If the cheque clears it's a good idea. There's no reason why they shouldn't team up - it's business not personal." Rodney P
Hype definitely sells in hip hop. Would there be a bigger story on the 05/06 calendar than arguably two of the greatest rappers alive joining forces and squashing their beef?
As a platinum-status artist, it's likely that Nas, with Kanye West, would become a priority of Def Jam. This means big album budgets, huge marketing campaigns and tours to push sales through the roof.
But... since the release of his classic Illmatic album in 94, Nas has built a solid fan base and is considered by many to be a hip hop purest. Will the lure of the dollar outweigh his pride?

"They'd be a heavyweight tag team who could take on whoever they want!" Skitz
Who's running rap? 50 Cent, The Game, Eminem, the south's arrival of Paul Wall, Slim Thug and Mike Jones, not to mention Lil' Jon?
Whatever you may feel, when asked to name today's king of rap it's a good bet that Nas or Jay-Z will be hailed. Surely the two of them together, backed by the label, nobody could touch them?
But... as president of Def Jam, wouldn't Nas always be #2 to Jay-Z? Could their collaboration work like this?

"If Nas moved labels it could give him that injection of creativity and enthusiasm which would enhance his career." Semtex
Let's look past the lyrical insults Jay-Z and Nas have thrown at each other. The bigger picture is the climax of their rivalry elevated hip hop on a global scale. Whether you decide who won or not, the chances are, if you're a fan of the music you most likely have an opinion on the Takeover VS Ether clash.
Consequently, some say it awoke a sleeping giant. Under the spotlight, Nas firmly re-established himself as Stillmatic... a position critics said he'd never regain.
But... is there too much water under the bridge? Could the pair really bury the hatchet?
