School Says Tupac Tattoo Is No Class

Postby ,-,'-{Bar}-',-, » Feb 26th, '07, 22:07

A New Zealand teenager was recently expelled from his Catholic high school for getting a tattoo of slain rapper Tupac Shakur on his forearm.

According to the IRN News, Zavier Bygrave, who got the tattoo with the permission of his mother, claims he was booted out of Sacred Heart College despite offering to wear a long-sleeved shirt to hide the tattoo.

Jim Dale, the school's principal who expelled the seventeen-year-old Bygrave, said the tattoo was "highly inappropriate" and "equated gross misconduct."

Richard Maddix, Zavier's grandfather, said the school's response shows how little regard they had for Zavier's education. He says his grandson needed only a few more credits to graduate.

Maddix also revealed that Zavier was told he had to stay at home until the tattoo was removed, a process which would take several months.

"(Dale's) using a boy's educational future to make a point," said Maddix.

The youngster's mother, Cindy Bygrave, revealed to the New Zealand Herald that she plans to file a complaint with the Education Ministry this week. She said her complaint to the ministry would be on the basis that her son's expulsion was discriminatory and breached his human right.

the only reason for this is because of mainstream "rap" the gunit, richboy, young jeezy, yung joc, young dro all the other youngs anyway where im goin at is are any of these artists leaving a good influence? hell no.. thats why the public judges hip hop as a bad influence, without even hearing a lyric from ice cube, common, nas, jigga etc etc
Its legendary status sittin behind this computer wiigga

Im pretty sure more schools are against having tattoos being shown? As far as im aware if you got a tattoo at a public/state school it has to be covered. This story is messed because he got expelled straight away

Indeed..

I remember the school rule in my school, that there should be no visable tattoos...

but I kinda agree with that, its good for the parents, tattoos that are too obvious are a bad image for the company u gonna work at in the future, even though it might seem cool in the present.

Not that kids under 18 should be allowed tattoo's in the first place..
by 18 most are supposed to graduate... and in college ull get all the freedom u need to tattoo yourself or whatever.

The stupid thing about this is that the media highlights that its a 2pac tattoo. If the dude tattooed Jesus with national flag under it nobody would care.
