ASBURY PARK , N.J. -- If there was ever a valid reason to stay home from school, this was it.
Police said an 18-year-old showed up for class at Asbury Park High School and tried to conceal that he'd been shot.
A staff member at the school noticed the wound on the student's leg and called police Wednesday morning.
Police said the student, whose name has not been released, was interviewed by police when they responded to a report of gunshots last night.
Police have ruled out the possibility of the shot being accidentally self-inflicted. Police say the teen got rid of the clothes and did not tell his parents.
The student was treated at Jersey Shore University Medical Center.
