i agree with u. the main reason he got fired was money. all the major sponsors dropped out, so only then was he fired. and i agree that other shows say the shit too, but they don't get any flack for it. he said it in a joking manor, and never intended it as a serious comment. and cbs took away his freedom of speech when they fired him. even though the comments maybe shouldn't have been said, he still has the right to say them. and i heard on the radio today that some rapper (i think snoop dogg, but i could be wrong) said that imus said hoe in a derogatory way, so that makes it wrong. i don't care about any context, but callin a woman a hoe is wrong in any sense unless ur saying it in a joking manor like i think imus was. especially when u say slap my hoe or beat my hoe, like a lot of rappers do. just seems like ppl are lookin for a reaction over something small

so he was wrong in saying it, but it was just a joke. he didn't deserve to get fired, he has the freedom of speech

i agree with everything you said, except the comment about the rappers. as a female listener of rap, i can distinguish when "hoes" is being referred to all women or women like me, or whether it's just commenting on actual hoes in the streets, so i dont' see anything wrong with it. it doesn't offend me personally.

i don't feel neither imus or rappers are in the fault. there is freedom of speech, and like i said, granted, he did randomly insult a b-ball team and that was very insensitive and rude, but it was blown way outta proportion.

and i failed to mention the sponsors and the money factor. i agree, that was probably the main reason why he got fired. and those sponsors dropped out because of the public's reaction.

people got worked up so easily over imus when shit like that has been going on for years!

but a lot of rappers use the word and i don't think they refer to actual hos. they just say it to say it because everybody says it. i don't think a lot of rappers have hos. if they do, then its kinda stupid considering most of them are giving to charities and whatnot. ludacris made a whole skit about the word, and its supposed to be ok for him to say it just cuz he might know actual hoes? it just seems stupid for rappers to complain about something they say themselves. imus said it in a joking manor imo, and rappers say it just to say it. i dont think either of them are wrong, but its wrong for one to blame the other

My teacher was talking about how most rap music is degrading to women, mostly black women and that it's ridiculous how rappers degrade their own black women and then these little kids see these music videos and want to grow up just like these men and be aggressive to women as well in a degrading manner....and don't at least some of you guys think he's right ???

Sure..kids can be told how to behave and be punished the right way if they do something bad but when they see music videos with all these girls treated like hoes or biatches..it is more probably they will learn from these music videos rather than their parents..

I really don't think Imus should have had gotten fired, maybe suspended but definately not fired, this is hypocritsm (spelled right??) :sweating:

oh no. it shouldn't be ignored. if we ignored it, then who knows what the next thing someone would say would be.. or the next thing...

i just hate it when the country/media (including black people) pretends to care about issues like these when they really don't.

there are children who can't play on the playground at school, because sewage and toxins are drained from the suburbs into their town. does don imus really matter? :confusion:

when u put it like that, then no it doesn't really matter what he said. but the media always does this shit. now with the shooting at VT, this will probably be forgotten and not get as much attention. media only goes after the stories that are popular at the time, very rarely do they go after the shit nobody wants to really talk about

I did not agree w/ him..

But this brings up an interesting question,

Why are these media outlits or these organizations ran like communists run their countries?

It's similar to Online Video Games or private places, if you say something they don't agree with, 1st Amendment or no, they'll escort you out.

At least they don't kill you.
HAHAHA CBS/NBC has a joint execution of Imus

no one deserves that

He's been doing this shit for years and no one's said shit, in fact they've made him rich as shit, so I don't see why everyone is all defensive about it now. Because he called some black girls nappy headed? Fuck that. They said they don't view themselves as that so it's no big deal. He'll go maybe 2 months sittin on his fortune than be right back on the radio because people LOVE to hear shit like that. It's all the shit they want to say but don't have the balls to. So yeah it's a complete and total over reaction. It'd be different if they were up his ass all the time, not just this one random time.
