The deeper reason for these actions is the self-made isolation of Russians.
Lots of them still hope that Soviet Union will be restored and that Estonian
independence will once again be taken away, so they don't learn the local language (some of them have been living here for 40 years and still don't know a word in Estonian!).
Haha, u crack me up with ur paranoia. Soviet union wont be restored, not in this decade at least. not untill world was 3.
As for languages... soviet union was a multicultural society, many people that didnt speak russian moved to russia, do i hate them ... no? the nazis do.
They can't handle the fact that they are not a "master race" on the territories of former Soviet Union any more; they can't handle the fact that they are equal with Estonians and all other people living in Estonia and other Eastern Europe countries.
Lmao, i never once heard a russian, caring about estonia enough to try to claim superiority over it. You are just trying to abstract urself, by trying to rewrite history, and thats offensive, it will backfire.
Russians treat small nations as second class people and this is the real root of all problems. Why else are they shouting "everything here belongs to us!" on the streets of Tallinn and destroying everything they can?
Once again, russians dont care about you enough to devide u into a class, ur a country, u are treated like one, and nobody is interfering in it. But bringing down memorials that are our COMMON history, wether you like it or not, trying rewrite history, all that is looked down upon.
To the Estonian people this is nothing but a symbol of yet another
horrible foreign occupation. Its pretty evident why the monument isn't wanted.
It isnt wanted but in ur city there are people protesting against it.
Its not "occupation" germany gave us the land, when they lost the war. Pathetic attempt at propaganda and trying to equate socialists to nazi's...
Besides, this should by no means be disrespectuful to Russian veterans
and their families. Do you really want your loved ones to be left buried
under a patch of grass between three busy, noisy intresecting roads?
A park where the criminals go drinking and causing trouble at night? The statue and human remains there are by no means being destroyed, they are being moved to a proper military cemetary. Somewhere where your soldiers can actually rest in peace
I dont know, i read in the papers that it is "dismantled", which gave me an obvious picture. If the monument is just being moved.... good. But nevertheless it doesnt matter were a monument is and how bad it is, monuments represent our history and should be preserved if anything.
And seriously, stop trying to abstract urself from reality saying we thing we are master race ... etc etc..
Eastern europe has been a pain in the ass with their smart comments, russophobia for the last decade, its no wonder that we'll have a lot of flags to burn on may 9th, especially if some eastern european country thinks up a new way to piss us off again.
