Just yesterday we reported that Common had signed on to star in Wanted with Angelina Jolie and Morgan Freeman, not to mention his role in Ridley Scott's HUGE American Gangster with Denzel, Russell and T.I., but now today we just got the word that he has signed onto star in the upcoming cop drama The Night Watchman with Keanu Reeves and Forest Whitaker.
Common will play a drug dealer who goes undercover in the police department; think Matt Damon in The Departed but cooler.
The movie will be directed by David Ayer (Harsh Times) and is based on an idea by James Ellroy (LA Confidential, The Black Dahlia).
Looks like Common is putting in more acting work than the average "gangster" rapper.
