Artists That'll Make It Big In US?

Postby Big-T » Jun 5th, '07, 17:16

BIg question i know streets are already a bit popular over there but which artists could really make it? I fink Sway's got potential definitely; also hes frends with many US Mcs e.g. Lupe Fiasco, Chamillionaire etc. I fink Akala should but im not quite sure and of corse Plan B should he just needs 2 get noticed. What's your opinion?

I dont think itll be good for them to try going american.

They tend to fall into the trap of using american commercialised beats.

American hip hop tends to suck the originality out of every rapper.

sway, he had a promo cd out there and if he put 100% into making it there i beileive he could, Plan B probly could aswell, i dont think anyone else could though

although, if you check forum americans (not all but 80%) hate Uk rap just because its from the UK, ignorant bastards

yeh thats true, saddest thing about it is UK has maybe not as many rappers but better rappers than US right now, the main UK artists i mean, and no bullshit raps makes it in UK only the best artists actually make it, as in US all these shitty artists make it and they have that dam gay club banger, crunk music shit, you dont get that with UK artists

and i also cant think of 1 Uk artist who is a sell out, or dumbs shit down to sell

Dizzee Rascal?

I never liked him either, in fact I kinda have a problem with the accent myslef, it's nothing personal to u.k rappers, it's just that we grow up listening to American Rappers, and it just sounds better in american accents.

not him. the name is right there at the tip of my tongue but i cant think of it. hes newer, and not from the UK. but its not that im used to americans rapping, even though i think that its better, its just hard to understand someone with an accent. especially when they're trying to rap and act hard and using a bunch of slang words i never heard before. just listening to someone talk with an accent is hard enough, make them rap to a beat, and it gets even harder

What about the streets, they have kinda sold out, and to consider that they're the most successful U.K rappers, with all the talented lyrical rappers there are in the U.K. they're the ones that have really made it, them Dizzee Rascal and The Mitchell Brothers.

Apathy, Canibus, Diabolic, etc shit on any of those U.K rappers

Plan B is possibly on their level, and that's a huge compliment, but just because most of the mainstream American rappers right now suck, don't paint them all with the one brush. Because America will always have the illest underground rappers.

People say the same shiti about America when it comes to movies, but they sure do make some fuckin awesome movies, in between all the bad ones.

the streets are sell outs ? i dont see the streets making party tracks saying get crunk get crunk, plus there 3 albums have been on the same sorta level, mike skinner is a down to earth guy if you ever catch his interviews, i wouldnt say there sell outs

dizee rascal i dont listen to, so i couldnt say, but i dislike the guy and dont class him as a top UK artist

as for the people you mentioned, Plan B could contend with them, then you got the up and comers who will be able to contend with them once they get proper deals ect., ryhme asylum, Respek BA, you got people like Akala who if ups his game could contend, Sway has a better flow than the 3 people you mentioned, and id rather stick on a sway track than an apathy track, and canibus has been around for donkies so its unfair stacking him against the UK artist who have only released One LP and shit

right now, if you look through the Uk underground scene there contending heavily with the US, since half the US underground are dirty south robots saying get crunk and thinking its original
