WTF is with Hip-Hop Beats

Postby Tash8 » Aug 3rd, '07, 22:20

seriously?

all hip hop beats are turning to shit, i've been listening and comparing beats from like professionals to other "underground" producers and i'm like wtf?

i dunno if it's just my ear, but half the stuff like those big long synths are annoying and nothing is great about them, yet they get paid thousands and thousands for some shitty ass fucking beats...

Yeah, mostly Lil John and 'em be doing these stupid snap dance beats, it gets annoying and non-Hip-Hoppers don't think Hip-Hop artists have any lyrical prowess.

Madlib
Jay-dilla
Dangermouse
Pete rock
Dj premier
Large professor
Kool keith a.k.a Dr Octagon
RZA
Dj Muggz
and many more.

^ these are real hip hop producers.

v these are half-ass overrated producers

Timbaland
Swizzbeats
J rotem (or watever his name is)

... etc.. i cant name many coz i dont memorize their names, but its pretty much everybody who's beats are called "hot" on tv.

Anybody with some fucking musical sense should be able to see a difference between a producer that can obscure a sample, make the drums sound "hip hop" not "pop", and some trash producers that are overated by kids that don't even know what the fuck they are talking about. Real producers have UNIQUE beats, yes unique.. thats what u have to be to be called a real artist.

kanye? kanye is a half ass producer. He doesnt sound unique, coz all he does is pretty plain. Im not saying he aint ok, yes he did some good beats, but maybe in 10 years he'll be on Madlibs or Rza's level.

Kanye belongs with the other amateurs like Eminem, and all the other rappers turned producers recent years.

Dr.Dre

Dr. Dre what?

Dr. Dre is overrated, he had his time in the early 90's, got his props, now all he does is "club bangers" for half ass pop-stars. Also takes 10 fucking years to make an album.... I was 12 when his last album came out, im almost 21 now... u think im even anticipating his album after all this time? Hahahahah. Dre can really fuck himself :y: lazy son of a bitch.

Edit:

Besides, i have never once heard dre produce an album of complexity that Dr.Octagon has or dangermouse and Jemini colab album "ghetto pop life". Better yet, i've never heard an instrumental album (like a full release instruemental music album, not instruementals to songs). And i bet he just simply cant, unless ofcourse he buys enough GHOST PRODUCERS, who listen to him and make the music while he takes the credit, like the guys that work with dre are doing now *cough* *cough*

2pac was right about Dre. Lazy, sold out motherfucker.

excuse a brother for the rant, but i know im not the only one to ever think that, some people just deny it, but dre is getting too much props for 0 action.

He might be overrated, that dosn't mean you should over ass fuck him like that. Dre revolutionised rap beats, before Dre everything sounded distorted and amateur. Dre made things sound better, invented the g-funk sound which is one of the coolest eras of hip-hop production imo, and made some awesoem albums. With albums like Doggystyle, Chronic, 2001, Marshall MAthers L.P and The EMinem show, in his resume (yes I know he was executive producer), it's not overrating him to say he's a fuckin legend, it's just a fact. You don't have to hate on Dre to draw acclaim to other producers, that's lame. You never hear me dissing anybody to make someone else look good. Boast peoples positives without shitting on others.

He works a lot of wonders that nobody give him credit for. He told Snoop to do that little singin thing he sometimes does on the hooks, and Snoop can't even sing. I bet he does lots of shit like that with EMinem too. He doesn't just make beats, Dre is a real producer. He will get the best out of you.

Swizz Beatz fuck yeah, Timbaland another one, but Dre....i agree that he is so fuckin lazy, but he did a lot of albums in this years. I do believe that detox will be a club banger, cuz like it or not(and i dont) from this comes out the $ in big waves. However, that pac thing is bullshit, pac needed dre's beats like air. Dre deserves a chance to show what he's capable of. Just like eminem. Everyone was making club bangers so they done it too. Let's see what's next. If they still make this shit, I'm the first one to say FUCK THEM

but dr. dre i always thought was abit overrated but he still deserves a lot of credits.

btw someone to marts soundclick and then compare his complex beat to someone professional then you'll see what i'm talking about.

Firstly Pac DID NOT NEED DRE. And no Pacs best shit wasnt with dre. Me against the world was pacs most consistent most solid, most musical album. There was no dre on it. He needs a chance? Dre has 10 years.

Yeah, you can keep hoping.... shadyaftermath is doing a great job at selling out right now.

He might be overrated, that dosn't mean you should over ass fuck him like that. Dre revolutionised rap beats, before Dre everything sounded distorted and amateur.

First, dre wasnt the first one to "revolutionise beats", a lot of people did it too, they dont get the props. Because Dre is overrated for reasons that he happened to go mainstream.

Dre made things sound better, invented the g-funk sound which is one of the coolest eras of hip-hop production imo, and made some awesoem albums. With albums like Doggystyle, Chronic, 2001, Marshall MAthers L.P and The EMinem show, in his resume (yes I know he was executive producer),

Exactly dre is an "EXECUTIVE PRODUCER", good for him, he did a good job at that.

Marshal mathers and Eminem show beats weren't nothing special, it was eminems lyrics that made it work. plus dre has a gang of musical of musical engineers and musicians in his studio, doing all his work and all he does is "executive produce"

Dre did good things, props to him, but right now? He aint shit, his beats arent cutting edge no more, his lack of work is despicable.

it's not overrating him to say he's a fuckin legend, it's just a fact. You don't have to hate on Dre to draw acclaim to other producers, that's lame.

I hate dissed dre to claim anything for other producers. Im actually wasting my time even mentioning names, since this board only knows 2pac, d12, dre, snoop, 50, game. There are producers out there, like Dilla (r.i.p) that ARE better than dre, and i will mention it like it is.
You never hear me dissing anybody to make someone else look good. Boast peoples positives without shitting on others.

For the last time, im not dissing dre for that reason. Im dissing dre coz he's a lame ass producer, lazy, sold out and off point on his beats, thats my opinion. You can take that how u want it.

ohh and Im tired of people saying "g-funk" like it changed anything so revolutionary. G-funk was just a slower version of oldschool east-coast music. And the sampling technique with the timed loop was already starting to flourish, Marley marl Did pretty mellow shit and used funk records too for sampling. Pete rock was sampling jazzy soul in a similar manner that dre did on Chronic as early as a 2-3 years before Dre cam out with it. Dre Just used a different kind of sample, and was already mainstream due to controversy.

Run DMC, Beastie boys, Prince Paul, Boogie Down, Afrika bambataa... ... wheres their credit too?
Dre, is a motherfucking spec of the stardust in hip hop and he been over praised so now he just sits back and does nothing, while eminem groupies prays him as god that created there god, so he eats of it.
