I don't see what's to debate about.

Cheer, chair are both pronounced with the "air" sound.

There, Their, They're, Dare, Deer, Dear are all pronounced with the "air" sound as well, even though it's not in any of their spellings.

Lol naw the double 'e' gives it the long 'e' sound so cheer would rhyme with ear, beer, dear, deer, steer, tier, we're, near, here, and pier. Chair rhymes with air, bear, lair, dare, hair, and so on and so forth.

They are all perfect rhymes man. You said cheer rhymes with dear, and chair rhymes with bear. So do bear and dear not rhyme with each other, of course they do. They are all pronounced with the "A" sound, it is much stronger than the "EE" sound and overpowers it. It's very difficult to even say a word with the "ee" sound if it ends in "r". Maybe technically you're supposed to pronounce it with the ch"ee"r sound, and people just take the easy way out and say it with the ch"air"r sound, because never in my life have I heard anybody say it like that, not in movies, n raps, in songs, or just in basic language. If you say cheer with the double "ee" sound, then it should rhyme with sheet? Is that how you guys are saying it?

You're fuckin English common sense has me white as a sheet
You guys'll take sweet or teeth and try to rhyme it with Cheer.

If that rhymes you win. :zipped:

Dear - long "e" as in "see"
Bear - the same sound as "air"
