Detox, Living Proof: The King Mathers LP, And More

Postby Big Proof 4ever » Nov 17th, '07, 21:01

It seems like the last three years the question on every hip-hop fans mind has been: Detox, is it coming this year, or is it not? It seems 2008 most certainly than ever, it finally is. 2008 is marked to be the hopeful return of Dr. Dre and his hip-hop family including big names like Snoop and Eminem, as well as newcomers Detox is bringing with it, including Bishop Lamont, Slim, Ya Boy & Ca$his. After making a brief, but welcome, appearance at this years MTV VMA Awards it seems Dr. Dre is ready to return in full form. In 2008 Dres Interscope imprint, Aftermath, plans to release six LPs from its already established artists as well as newcomers. The first of which is Busta Rhymes second album with the label “Back on My B.S.” Fans can expect to hear three new productions from the Dr. However, Dre has taken a step back with this album handing full executive ranks over to Busta – which is no surprise given Dres busy production schedule.

Eminem album Talk

It is actually hard to say which album fans are anticipating more, Detox or the labels second album scheduled for release in early March. After rumors of retirement it seems Eminem has decided to step back in the booth with his fifth solo LP “Living Proof: The King Mathers LP.” “Living Proof” will feature much heavier tones than Mathers last outing, 2004s “Encore” which left fans and the industry confused. Aftermath plans to release the albums first single “Pushin” in January as well as the street single “King Mathers” featuring Eminem protégé Ca$his soon after. Following in the footsteps of Eminemfriend Nas, “Living Proof” is Eminems attempt to save his passion in the name of his fallen friend Proof. A rare occurrence for Eminem, the album will also feature outside production from Scott Storch and J.R. Rotem as well as Eminem, the majority of the production ranks will be handled by Dr. Dre as well as the albums first two singles.

Detox Album Talk

Though things are still tight lipped, Detox is slated for a June 3rd release. Usually such a certain date isnt disclosed this early, but according to Aftermath sources Dre feels it is the perfect date. A tour is planned to follow 2000s “Up In Smoke Tour” starting in late June. Fans should not see it as a farewell tour to Dr. Dre, but a celebration of his career, Ice Cube, Snoop Dogg, Eminem, and Bishop Lamont are all rumored to be joining the tour. After two high profile releases, Aftermath plans to finish out the year with Bishop Lamonts long awaited debut, “The Reformation” concurrently with the tour. Aftermath fans can also expect the debut of Tiffany Villarreal late next year, as well as Stat Quos long delayed “Statlanta” possibly anytime next year. There are also plans for 50 Cents final album on the label to be released, but not much is known with how much Dre will be involved with it. Fans can also expect to hear new productions from Dr. Dre on upcoming albums from: Eve, The Game, Ca$his, Obie Trice and Andre 3000.
