this was discussed a while ago on rapbasement, and it's obvisous it's respect, but only eminem fans will see it that way, this was not a popular song and people who don't know of eminem will think jay wrote it

I always wondered if Eminem was a Notorious BIG stan when he came out mainstream in 99 (really 98.) He picked a name that was similiar to what Biggie named Jay Z for his group called the Commission.
If anyone didn't know Jay Z was also known as Iceberg Slim and him, Charli Baltimore and Biggie were gonna try to jump off that threesome in the rap game. I always thought he was a Biggie stan, but then he named Christopher as his 4th on his list in his song 'Till I Collapse.
Maybe it was just a coincidence he took the Slim and sweated the Shady references Biggie used. That's the reason I thought he was a stan (before the song) in 99.
Maybe Biggie whispered in his ear from beyond the grave when he was on the toilet that day to come up wit Slim Shady... who knows.
But Em better realize that Biggie is the most shadiest.
I also wondered if he put Jay as his second influence because of this whole Slim thing and for him to not look like a biter on the name.
I thought his list would be Redman, Tupac, Biggie, THEN Jay.

I disagree. Jay-Z and Eminem respects each other, so I don't think Jay-Z's stealing a line, I think it's respect as other has said.
