^^ yea i think you'd only be called a groupie for an Eminem song. and that's cuz Em's the only one with the retarded fans (i.e. ShadyShan). fans of other rappers dont over-obsess. and i find it funny that is mostly only the white fans that are suckin Em's dick every chance they get, not so much the black fans
but that's kinda digressing from the point. you can make a "tribute song" about any well-known rapper with no fear of bein called a groupie. but i think u just have to wait till they fade. Rakim isn't all that well-known to general listeners, so for Nas to make a track about'em would be acceptible. wait long enough and u can makes songs about Nas, Jay-Z, Common, Taleb, Lupe, Em, etc... once they "fade", when they're not in the scene so much.

You could argue that many rappers do taht on Pac and Biggie's tribute album when they put themselves on Pac's song. Nas got away with it because no-one knows Rakim well, but it kinda depends on the artist and the label. If you had say Ca$his doing that on his album about Eminem, he probably would be called a suck up or groupie
