Americas Oil Problem? Debate

Postby rlxhustlr » May 17th, '08, 16:57

With gas prices soring and people getting angry, whats the next step?

One thing I dont get is why doesnt my country start tapping oil in the US. We have plenty of it. Bush says we are saving it for emergencies. Well dont you think its emergency now? Or do you think their is a bigger reason behind all this?

I dont get why we keep making bigger gas hogging cars. I suppose its all about money!

Its because the European trade companies and bank consortiums took over the American economy by surprise and now a struggling america thinks the old treaties and her "prestige" will help her.

Only an american would say that. Your neighbor's problem is your problem. But then again, socialism failed miserably in America, so i see what you made there.

americans use vehicles as there main use of transportation. its how its always been. we drive around more then any other country. its all we have to get around and things are spread so far apart in america it takes time to get places. myself i spend $100.00 a week in gas. i would take a bus but none go into my area of work. :-( so sad!

yea its not like a huge problem yet but you know its gunna be unless we do something. im sure gas will get past $4.00gal this summer.

You guys gotta know two main reaons 1st our president in office right now is a oil man and he loves to see the prices go higher and higher all that means is more money for him, and also it has to be the WAR.... think about it in all wars in history every- one suffers taxes go up to pay for it and so on this has been a feel good war no big raise in taxes, thats not how its supposed to go down. in times of war citizens are supposed to all give up a little look at ww2 industries started making planes and what ever during this war... nothing. so with all that said and done, somehting had to go up and it happend to be gas and thats also the reason our dollar is going to shit.
Y'ALL TRYNA BE THE KING. BUT THE ACE IS BACK

my idea is that laws be set that no dealer is alowed to sell cars with engins bigger than a V8 such as most SUV's

also how about tapping the oil around here cause i know we have plenty of it to last my life time lol.

i think you have generalized your visit here a little too much but anyway if you drive more, it should be taxed more, to reduce the social cost to the environment and world

You do understand that V12 and V6 engines are far more productive and energy effective than the V8 and V4. Especially the V4 which is the worst possible engine. So by inducing laws to prevent selling engines bigger than V8 you are basically screw up the pocket of the middle-and-low class.

And no you shouldnt be taxed more if you drive more. We already give 90% of our wages to taxation and electric/phone/insurance bills. No more taxes. Release us from heavy taxation and increase our wages so we can have enough money for our precious gas. Now, in the future maybe you should induce international laws to decrease the price of gas, whether the companies like it or not. But thats not easy, and cant be done just yet.
