I dont need to understand USA, although i pretty much do, even more than americans. Empires come and go, great world powers are top today and they crumble tomorrow. Kingdom of Egypt, Persian Empire, Alexander's Kingdom, Roman Empire, Byzantium, Islam Caliphate, Golden Horde, Russian Empire, British Empire all these ruled the world during some point of their existance. They all crumble and come back (or not). USA is just another. Due to your patriotic enthusiasm and your lack of history, you believe that America and her capitalist system will rule forever on this planet. Yeah i dont blame you. Nations with great history and culture still believe in the return of their lost glory, i cant blame the american colonies for dreaming.

Unfortunately, you are on top. I am talking seriously here, so i could care less if you find it amusing that i admit the States are the strongest nation.

Why i think you are the strongest? Simply because of NATO. Although you may have grossly failed in commerce and trade, having all the oil plans backfiring because of O.C.O. and European trade companies, you still hold most of western europe are protectorate, with the north atlantic terrorist organisation. Only Russia and China can still oppose you and that leads back to Cold War situations and only produce fear to the masses. But thats another story.

You have 200-300 years of history. Your "nation" (if you can call it that way) is still an infant, in history terms. Since there is national and ethnic mentality (you acknowledge yourself as an american, not a british colonial), your nation, as a whole, "thinks" and "acts" like an infant. You dont have the collective knowledge of nations with 2000-3000 years of history. You havent been through conquests, victories and defeats, cultural growth, turmoils, religious wars, dark ages and rennaissance, fascism and socialism, revolutions, civil wars etc. You havent seen your entire nation subjugated to another one, and you havent seen a nation becoming slaves for America. Even if you had moments and situations like this in your short history, you didnt have it the extend of other countries. Right now, America declared "war on terror" the same way 1000 years ago the French and Germans declared their Crusades. The same way Mehmet declared Islam and expanded it 1400 years ago. Your mentality is still....ancient. You cannot see further than that.

A good example is civil war. You had 1 civil war in your entire history. North vs South. And you much such a big deal about it. My nation had civil wars ever since we figured out our existance as a nation. Mycenae vs Troy, Athens vs Sparta, Theba vs Sparta & Athens, Macedon vs everyone, the civil wars of the Roman Empire, Constantine vs Licinius, civil wars inside the Byzantine empire, Iconoclasm, fusionists vs dogmatics, civil wars during the revolution of 1821, civil wars between king's followers and democrats, civil wars between capitalists and communists etc etc etc. We had so many civil wars that it passed in our mentality, it doesnt mean anything to us anymore, its the past. But you still have the thorn in ur side, the american civil war. That means you dont have enough experiences as nation yet.
