Official Nas Ni***r Topic

Postby ,-,'-{Bar}-',-, » Jun 8th, '08, 21:55

lots of conversations and comment around the forum but no big discussion about it.

so what all ya'll thoughts on this, alot fo people think nas is goin for the "black vs white's" image, other people support taking these topics directly to the front page.

i aint made my mind up yet, im a nas fan and im white and i aint annoyed by the title or the concepts, i cant say i understand coz 1 i aint from usa and 2 i aint seen racism in extreme cases unless it documentary's and stuff.

hard to tell. i'm expecting something BIG, because it's Nas and i'm a big fan of his music - i said music, because he annoys me as a person - you know what i mean, this all 'n****r-talk', now this possible album cover and so on. basically - he's a fag.

we had the chance to listen to few tracks from the album, and i must admit that i'm not impressed. before 'Hip Hop Is Dead' i was totally excited when i heard 'The N' and then almost wet my pants when i heard 'Hip Hop Is Dead'. now - i've got mixed feelings. i'm not feeling 'Hero'. i have this feeling that it won't live up to our expectations.

shit.

btw. i WANT some cool featurings. with Mary J. Blige for example.

in some ways im like you, im a huge fan of his music, as a person he confuses me at times, but this whole topic and the way hes goin about it, to me it seems like hes taking something alot of people pussyfoot around and puting it right out there so they can stop ducking having to confront it. and to do that he has to be an asshole, like i said it doesnt bother me, i aint racists but if i go into my local shop the day of its release and they dont have it ill say "can you order me a copy of the new nas album nigger" i aint phazed about that, maybe thats what he wants to see.

maybe its just a concept. maybe he just wants to see the reaction. maybe hes genuinly trying to get peopel to confront it.

i dunno. if any other artist in the world (minus a very few) had tried to do this i wouldnt have been as optasmitic of it working, but becuase it is nas i got a feeling he'll do it right.

confront what? the N word?

i really wish the album was a good piece of work. as for the title and white people.. here, i won't be ashamed to go and buy it. it's just a title, and as long as you don't take it personally.. there's no disrespect.

its not even called that now anyway cos stores would refuse to stock it so i can't see white people not buying it

i personally have only jus started getting into nas and haven't even got to listen to his illmatic or stillmatic albums yet, even though people say they are classics. But judging on his most recent stuff, im a fan. The three most recent tracks ive hear, Slave and the Master, War Is Necessary and Hero, I all like.

People say the subject matter is getting boring or its not justified or whatever but I'd rather hear artists talk about stuff like this than about how girls lick their lollipops and how they like the way she does it etc....

Yer, I get the subject matter but really its been talked about enough but others about this ...dunno, seems like Nas is just moaning about the fact " hes black" when really, instead of just talking about it, he shoud actively do something about it if he feels its an issue..rather than go on about it.....rather have him on some stillmatic stuff
and as for asking for the n***** album instore..im sure they would understand..well i would

^^^ they would never understand! thats why he had to change it in the first place, cos of pressure from stores like walmart....from there point of view it could cause controversy, and racial tension, etc....its not worth the risk for them

and maybe your right about him repeating points hes made from his previous albums, i just wouldn't know

Who cares what it's called, buying it I think is the opposite, people won't see you buy it and think racist, makes no sense.

the video was dope as hell, nice mirror idea as well, but it's too long, it reminds me of stan in the sense that i'll probably never watch it again.
