G-Unit Album Review

Postby Robbie G » Jun 16th, '08, 02:06

I found this on rapbasement. It's from the listening party that g-unit held. remember that this isn't a pro review and each song was played once..probably in a loud place so it's first impressions.

Live From the Terminate On Sight Listening Party

by AIRKAT

THURSDAY JUNE 12, 2008

Our fearless leader, bravely faced down the artists he clowned mere weeks ago to sneak a peek at G-Unit's Sophomore (or Junior if you count the GRODT Soundtrack) release.

The tracks are listed in the order in which they were played. Final tracklisting will be coming soon.

I'll be updating this article as feedback comes in.

Track 1 - Kitty Kat -Palaow Da Don
"The beat is hard, the sample in the beginning is awful. Sounds like Kelis should've been doing it. Yayo was aggressive but the hook was lame. 50 comes in second and does the track justice. It's a head nodder, but nothing above that. The breakdown by Palaow isn't bad, and Banks' flow was alright". 3/5

Track 2 - No Days Off (Unknown Producer)
"Banks opens it up with a quick rhyme, 50 follows. Vintage G-Unit track reminiscent of their first album. Yayo comes in third, Banks rides the hook, and closes it. Another aggressive track." 3/5

Track 3 - Casualties Of War
"50 opens it up.Slow tempo and even more aggressive than the last. The hook by Fif is lackluster, the breakdown before Banks comes in is unexpected. The piano sounds out fo place. Yayo comes in third. Nothing impressive on his part. The beat sounds like something off a Mobb Deep album." 3/5 (and that's pushing it)

Track 4 - Straight Outta Southside (Dedicated to Sean Bell, Produced by Rob Brown)
"You guys have probably heard this one. Good aggressive track reminiscent of the Public Enemy/NWA days." 4/5

Track 5 - Let It Go (Produced by Canon, Featuring Mavado)
"Crazy beat, Movado on the hook with Gangsta Fo Life. Banks opens up, followed by Mavado. Interesting blend that definitely works. Yayo comes in second. Sounded better than Yayo towards the end of his verse. No Fif." 4/5

Track 6 - Terminate On Sight
"Another 50 hook followed by his verse. More aggressiveness in the track. Bank kills this track, coming in second, his flow is ridiculous and gives this track some replay value. Yayo comes in calling out rappers. No names thrown out. Nothing interesting. This track definitely has a good momentum to it." 4/5

Track 7 - Ready or Not (Produced by Swizz Beatz)
"Banks opens up this rather lackluster track. He also rides the hook, which isn't good enough to carry the track. Yayo comes in with the same verse he used on his Green Lantern freestyle. He kind of outshines Banks on it. Banks comes in with some more bars to make up for his dragging first verse." 3/5

Track 8 - I Get Down (Produced by Swizz Beatz)
"Fif's flow isn't bad. Yayo follows through. Again, nothing above average. Lyrics and hook, both average. Fif comes back after yayo and brings in Banks. Fif jumps back in after Banks." 3/5

Track 9 - Close to Me (Produced by Dangerous LLC)
"Banks on the hook, obvious track for the females. Fif opens up this typical 'ride with a bawller' track for the females. Banks comes in after Fif with another flow that'll probably give the track replay value for the hardcore fans. Yayo closes the track out with a familiar flow and lyrics that are definitely better than what he did on 'The way she do it'." 3/5

Track 10 - You So Tough (Produced by Kai Miller)
"Fif on the hook, Banks opens up with some more aggressiveness, but nothing stands out about his verse. Yayo comes in second. More money talk. Once again, nothing outstanding. Fif closes it with his usual flow. Same feeling as the others." 2.5/5

Track 11 - Piano Man (Produced by The Bridges)
"Fif on the hook, Yayo opens up. The beat is average, but keeps up with the aggressive tone. Banks' flow is also aggressive on it which balances out the mellow hook provided by Fif." 2.5/5

Track 12 - Party Ain't Over
"Opens up very good, once again with Fif on it. The beat is hype, yet hood; something that can be played at a club to warm a crowd. Yayo comes in after Fif. This is definitely a head nodder. Banks jumps in third. Buck comes in later with an alright flow. Takes some shots at Lil Wayne." 3/5

Track 13 - Money make the world go round
"This track gives you a 'hate it or love it' feel. The beat is great. Yayo opens up reminiscing about Southside Jamaica Queens. They all share the hook. Banks comes in later. This is my favorite track so far, a change from guns and hoes is always welcomed. And they just cut it off before it finished... fuckers." 4/5

Track 14 - Rider Pt 2
"You've heard it already."

Final Tracklisting:

1. Straight out of south side prod. By ron browz
2. Piano man feat. Young Buck prod. By Tha Bizness
3. Close To Me prod by Dangerous LLC
4. Rider pt 2 feat young buck prod by rick rock
5. Casualties of war prod by ky miller
6. You so tough prod by ky miller
7. No days off prod by dual output
8. Terminate on sight prod by ty fyfe
9. I like the way she do it feat young buck prod by street radio Inc
10. kitty kat prod by hit-boy
11. Party ain't over feat young buck prod by damien Taylor
12. Let it go feat. Mavado prod by don cannon
13. Get down prod by Swizz beats
14. I don't wanna talk about it prod by Jesse corparal Wilson and Reginald "regg" smith
15. Ready or not prod by jake one
16. Money makes the world go round prod by ron browz

...and with that, the party is over and Jokesta walks away feeling that this album is about a 3/5. He compares it to Tha Carter III based on the hot vs so/so tracks -- just with less buzz (although he doesn't say that, because Yayo's already mad)

Another average album :(

You're not a groupie, I feel the same way, and maybe there's a reason for it not being played at the party? Idk..

Nah, that's not being a groupie..who here didn't want one?

Don't jump the gun, It's only one guy. It will probably have a few good tracks and a lot of bad ones but i'll judge it when I hear it.

I might give this a chance, but I really don't listen/like hip hop much anymore...I'm currently just sticking to 2 people

thats kinda weird since I'm a rapper

Yeah...I;m actually getting tired of it because nothing new is good and I've listened to all the old stuff way too many times..

well yall check this out http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Terminate_on_Sight and go down to Tracklisting(theres 2) oh and one more think In an interview, Tony Yayo spoke about a track featuring Eminem, which is produced by Dr. Dre. He said:

The track with Em is raw. Him And Fif are gonna kill someone's career with that, but I'll keep that to myself right now. I don't think ya'll gonna be ready for this track. I think it might push this nigga to kill himself when he hears this.

lol @ everyone takin this review so serious, listen for yourself before slaming it, same with games reviews, people be taking other peoples opinions like their facts.

In saying that, 3/5 average is still good.
