Tha Carter 3 did not "sell" ONE MILLION COPIES. ONE MILLION COPIES were ordered. Out of every 10 cd's 7 of them are considered "FREE GOODS" depending on the structure of Lil Waynes's contract with Universal and Cash Money and depending on Universal's deal with its distributors. Royalty Checks get paid out every nine months (See Ghostface Killa on "Rainy Days"-Only Built for Cuban Linx "Royalties they take too long, its like waiting on Babies). Lil Wayne may only see 12 to 15 cents a cd. If only 3 cds were sold out of the 10, Lil Wayne only took home 45 cents for every 3 cds sold, that's before taxes 20% to the manager, God only knows what Baby and Slim takes out of the check. That's why all the rappers take the good acting jobs, GUARANTEED MONEY.



Tha Carter 3 was more about Universal Records than it was about Lil Wayne. Universal is the Parent to Interscope and Def Jam, which housed 50 Cent, Kanye West, and Jay Z, respectively.
