My Thoughts On todays hip hop

I know most of you have seen millions of lil blogs like this but i feel like i need to share what i think about todays hip hop scene...

First off lets talk mainsteam...10 years ago how many of you thought a song with a guy talking like robocop would sell? 10 years ago how many of you thought that almost every rapper on the radio, you will never hear again? 10 years ago how many of you thought that a 17 year old kid could make a whole cd with zero lyrics..and could make 5 year olds yell "SUPER SOAK THAT HOE"...exactly we all thought that rap could never die, we all thought that we could hear instant clasics every time we bought a rap cd. We all thought that we would be hearing things that could change our lives...In yet..you cant turn on BET without hearing GET MONEY...FUCK BITCHES...GET CRUNK....Can that change someones life? nope.

Now to the Underground. Now people don't get me wrong i LOVE the underground. But quite frankly its getting to be just as bad as the mainstream. Ok lets face it most Underground rappers are influenced by ICP, Tech 9, KmK, Twiztid, Eminem, Gordy, ect......... But that doesnt mean you have to BITE there style...get your own ideas...let me give you an example...you wanna make a horrorcore cd? thats fine..but make it different make it original..and dont get gimicky...thats the only way to do that...You wanna make a whole cd about drugs? thats fine...but damnit give me somthin besides shrooms, weed, and bongs...we have heard that shit MILLIONS of times...make up your own damn drug or somthin...the Underground is the only music worth buying so please keep it original, or will end up in the same boat as the mainstream....

Mainstream = dead

Underground = on a Respirator in the ICU...

lets keep the music alive people

It doesn't really matter to me how music is now if I get to hear how it used to be.
So what if hip hop is dying? Theres nothing we can do. Especially since we're just a bunch of people on a fan site. Concentrate on how it used to be, rather than worrying about how it's going to be. Because I'm sure there's plenty older underground shit you haven't heard; so rather than keeping your mind on how things are now, spend some time trying to discover stuff you haven't heard.
How much music do you need? Personally, I don't have to listen to many artists to be satisfied.
So basically, we're all aware good hip hop is dying. But it's best not to waste time worrying about it, cause theres still so much to be discovered (for me at least).

My opinion

Hip hop has grown into many different pop cultures, we miss the old days when things was tough and hip hop inspired ppl to "get down on it" and struggle through. 10 years ago that was the case anyway.

These days we got different types of sh*t. Not like when your clothes would get robbed off the line, or your coal from the doorstep, but evolution grown from the desire to live a glorified life with all the trimmings= greedy crime
or you got smack heads robbing gaffs to feed their habbit= drug crime
and gang related crimes too
these are the truest things mc,s can rap about these days,

evolution of time, hiphop and sounds
thats why we dont get the same vibe in the new generation coz they aint bin there...

Just a thought
Whateva u wanna say, go ahead coz we dont play.
Every word taken to heart, supersensitive, arent u smart.
So how next r u gonna use it, laugh in my face is to abuse it.
Remember me G, coz i'm gonna live til I'm an OAP.

Well I do have to say right now, I'm only listening to 2 people. One major and one underground.

Start being selected with your ears. You wouldn't submit your taste buds to every soda pop out now. So why do it to your ears.

Sorry...when I get on these trips, I think I'm fucking Pluto or some shit. :smoking:

I agree with everyone's posts, it's all true, hip-hop is dying, and I think in turn it's keeping artists like the mainstream hip-hop heavyweights (Jay, Nas, Em, etc.) to fall out of love with rap in today's world in addition to the bubblegum, ringtone rappers we have today. I think it won't change (although we all wish it would) and all that we can do as hip-hop fans is to keep searching for those keeping real and true to rap, and keep listening to new and good artists from the past, because no one on here can say they have listened to every album of the 20, 30, 40...??? best artists in hip-hop history.

you started this thread as if you had something original and unique to say. yet all you did was trash talk today's rappers. if you don't like it then do something about it. bitching on the computer gets you no where. some shitty artist isn't gonna read this and go "wow you know what? he's right i should make good music now!"

the underground scene has plenty of original artists. find them.

i wouldn't have reason to trash talk this thread if what was said hadn't been said several times already. instead of finding a thread somebody else made on their views and adding your point to it, you felt the need to say exactly what they said in a whole seperate thread. what i said has nothing to do with how you feel, i do agree with many of your points. i just don't see the point of reiterating it.
