fuckin i have told you several times now that i am not judging the entire country off of one guy. i have stressed that alot in my posts. i just strictly said the reason i don't like the particular artists that i HAVE heard. i can't listen to everybody. and when i get around to it i will listen to people i haven't heard. but seeing as it's new music, i can't listen to it if i just play it in the background. that's defeating the purpose.

man im making general points, i already sayed at the very start i didnt class you as the type of person i was talking about.

no but if you try and listen then i wouldnt put you in the 80% i spoke off

^^^

i would have to agree, if you were from the US you wouldn't give a shit about the UK. you're only making an issue out of this because your feelings are hurt cuz many Americans don't like UK's music and you are the UK. then get pissed off cuz "hey i like your American music so why can't you like my UK music?" that's like being mad cuz somebody doesn't like you. who cares? somebody else DOES like you. leave the ones that don't alone and only bother with the ones that do.

trust me i aint hurt, nor do i take any of this on a personel level, only time it annoys me is when people start knocking the skill of uk artists i rate, just becuase there from the uk, when there skill is evident in there music and this discussion has nothing to do with that, so if thats how you think its goin your way off course.

but obvioulsy i want were i come from to get more recognition, ever person does.

also i dont care if you like/dont like/love/despise/wanne have babies with the music, i really couldnt care, only thing that bothers me is people not checking it out and making there mind up before they listen.

Ok, well i don't feel like reading all those posts above, and it isn't because i'm closed minded, it's becaue i don't feel like it.
I just want to say that, Bar, you are closed minded for saying that 80 percent of Americans won't listen to UK hip hop. And you can't even say that unless you know 80 percent of Americans.

i just wanne say, darkblade44431, you are dumb, coz you didnt read my post correctly, when i didnt say 80% of americans. so beofore making alligations or even getting involved in the discussion how about reading stuff more carefully ?

but if your looking for the americans on this site to answer your question 80% of them are extremely close minded

i sayed americans on this site, and i do know 100% of the active americans on this site, and most who are note worthy have commented on or completely ignored the topic im discussing witch leads to think most of them dont care and arent open to uk hip hop.

and in all honesty with all the points made in this thread and you completely ignoring them im wasitng my time even typing this, read the thread before commenting next time :y:

See the problem with what rap in the UK has slowly turned into is this; with them using these accents and purposely rapping fast with UK slang it's no wonder Hadez and Tash for example don't know what the fuck they're saying.

I don't even know sometimes, it's a shame the UK can't have normal rap, but it's fast becoming that it's all grime now.

if i understood it i might like it, but bar seems to not understand that from what I've heard it's hard for me to understand it, it's simpler for me to find an american artist than a uk artist to listen to... so that's why i look for american artists.

^ i understand your points as well, but think about it in my shoes man... your close enough to england, that you can somewhat pick up on the slang right?

I can't at all, no add that up with an accent and it makes 10 x harder on me, There's people like thomas who can understand it, me and hadez can't...

now UK rap, i'm not judging it.. I don't have a program with it, i'm gonna be ignorant of it, unless I run into something I like, or maybe you could hook me up with something I might like? I think one time you sent me a track with a rapper who was on a rockish beat and i told you I liked it...

also get on msn... important shit

True, but you must admit that grime is fast becoming the dominant genre.

To be honest, I can understand my Americans won't give UK artists the chance, as I have similar feelings towards English speaking rappers from other countries (like France for example). I can understand what they say yet it's hard to relate to the artist and there's a natural tendency to not like a foreign accent rapping as it's not what you are used to and part of me hasn't felt any desire to check out Hip Hop from any other country, especially when the alternative is discovering more UK and US artists.

The situation is different for us British, where we clearly accept US artists and that's clearly because of the American influence is so dominant and we've been feed it since we were children (through radio, films etc) so we are used to it and feel like it's relevant. Not to mention how the UK offered no real alternative till 2000 possibly with So Solid Crew. So although I do think Akala, Sway and Asher D for example are better then 90% of American artists and I'd love to see them recognized globally, we can't expect it to happen overnight.

We're clearly making progress, but it's gonna take time.

I was pretty ignorant about UK Hip Hop but now I've just heard of Dizzee Rascal (or however it's written) and Ironik and my thoughts are, shit they aren't that bad. I'm gonna look into this music.
