50 Cent says Lil Wayne and many others have ripped him off. In a recent interview with Rollingstone, 50 says that rappers have stolen his style to create their own songs, pointing out Lil Wayne for an example. “‘Lollipop’ is ‘lick lick lick lick it like a lollipop,’” 50 told Rollingstone, continuing “And ‘Candy Shop’ is ‘I’ll take you to the Candy Shop/ I’ll let you lick the lollipop.’”
The G-Unit general is currently working on his new album, Before I Self Destruct. The new album, due out later this year, will be 50's last album with his current contract with Interscope Records. 50 says that he has stopped listening to music to create a new song. “I’m not really listening to anyone else’s records,” 50 said. “I’m in another space where I gotta make what I’m excited about.”
50 voiced his opinion on the entire situation saying “[Other rappers] can take what I’ve done for the last five years and do their version of it and be successful with momentum,” he added. “Meanwhile, I have to reinvent the wheel.”
