Calling 2pac Overrated

Postby Slimm » Sep 28th, '08, 21:57

Okay, everyone can have a opinion but it seems like its starting to be cool to call 2pac overrated. Like when you think your cool cause you listen to MF Doom and other super lyrical rappers and start calling 2Pac overrated because he isnt the most lyrical rapper around.

Thats why I always say Lyrics arent everything, because 2Pac is prolly the rapper who touched the most lives, and that >> lyrics.

i agree and disagree....i kinda feel pac is overated tbh but i agree its becoming a its cool to say it thing.

Im not some dumb 2pac groupie, i know that ofcourse his legend was created because he got killed, but it just pisses me off how people call him overrated while they prolly got into rap listening to him. Or not, but still, lyrics arent everything is what i meant to say with this topic as well.

Edit: that sounded like i was mad lol, im not :'( :b:

i like Tupac. i don't find him over rated at all. i'm not going to say his lyrics are the coolest thing since sliced bread. but i'm also not going to dismiss his music. he's more creative than people give him credit for. and he also makes attempts adding more poetic things than just rhyming to his songs.

and everybody raves about Eminem getting white kids to listen. but anybody who's seen Tupac Resurrection knows that Tupac had white fans too. Tupac didn't just represent black struggle, he represented struggle all together. so i think the fact that it took as far as getting a white rapper to get white people to listen since Tupac, means something.

i think he is over-rated when people call him the best rapper ever. and overated when people like the dumb ass above that thinks biggies is overated, i mean dam if biggie is over rated tupac is CRAZILY HUGE MASSIVE overated.

he gets alot of attention for what he did and his controversy, and hes overrated when people call ihm the best all round rapper, he didnt have everything but what he had he was great at, and his impact on the music will always be felt.

2pac was the first rapper i listened to and he is a legend.

In my opinion, he talked about what earlier rappers would touch on, which include the description of life in the ghetto's, etc.. And he touched on a lot of that and appealed to a great audience due to the fact that he discussed those problems and that he did care about people, while at the same time being a hardcore thug, which was a result of him being compassionate growing up with his mom, but later going out on the streets with his friends where he got a more hardcore feeling. He also had a great voice and put great emotion into his music in my opinion. And he was lyrical. Just because he doesn't have insane multi's and flow, doesn't mean he isn't a great rapper. He was poetic instead of just rhyming things as well. And if you just did something like look at the end rhymes, yeah, they aren't special, but he focused on what was in between those rhymes and the meaning of his songs. 2pac is not overrated in my opinion.

it's really only the whole east/west coast beef which got Pac (and BIG) over-rated BUT it dont make him overrated, it's what people were saying about him when he mde his music so its probably more of his impact

like it was said before in this topic: people call him the 'greatest rapper' and can't name more than 5 songs. this just pisses me off. so it's not like i'm hating on him to be cool or something like that. never said i hate him because he's got nursery rhmes lol, i listen to his songs and get this special vibe, and "Brenda's Got A Baby" still can make me cry, even though i listened to it like hundred times..

There's only two rappers who are overrated: Nas and Biggie.

Tupac is Definitely overrated for several reasons; first and foremost, is his poor lyricism, as it sounds too simple in most of his releases. Secondly, His flow patterns are not special at all, in fact they were quite similar in each and every snog he makes. Thirdly, He didn't really create anything & added it to the game, I wonder why some people call him creative! he had great content in his lyrics, period. His themes touch people, that's true, but that's basically just it. Nas is 100 times better for having both element together, nice lyricism (not superb) and outstanding content in way more complex versatile flows. Rakim can be called creative for inventing the multi-syllabic rhymes & adding more to the complexity in lyricism. Eminem Had way better themes than Tupac had; think of "Sing For The Moment", "Lose Yourself", "Rock Bottom", "Never Too Far", "Stan" (Historical track), "Kim", and the last two are more original & creative than anything Tupac ever did. & to top it off, all of those were 100 times more lyrical than any thing tupac ever put out...
one last thing, if tupac is still alive, he wouldn't be that popular, his death was another factor that led to his exaggerated popularity.
