Britney Spears ' 'Womanizer' has jumped to the top of the Billboard charts, and set a new record for digital sales in its first week.
The single had the biggest opening week by a female artist since Nielsen started tracking digital sales in 2003, with more than 286,000 downloads. The song made a record-breaking jump to No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, after it first appeared on the chart at No. 96 last week.
The risque video to accompany the single, which features Britney Spears nude, couldn't have hurt sales either. Somewhat surprisingly, it's the first chart-topper for Britney since her debut single 'Baby One More Time' in 1999.
Rapper T.I. also had a good week and is on Spears' heels with tracks 'Whatever You Like' and 'Live Your Life' in the next two spots. Pink's 'So What' is in No. 4, and Katy Perry's 'Hot N Cold' rounds out the top five.
Spears has announced that she plans to kick off a worldwide tour sometime in Spring 2009.
