I thought this would be an interesting one. I haven't got a clue how to make a poll so just say what your choice is and put why if you want to. And as for me im going for Rakim. Now your turn :y:

Well Tupac is dead (?) legend, Rakim a living legend..... You can't compare them
Tupac was ( or still is ) gangsta, Rakim is lyrical the best and sort of inveted this style which alot of people still use to this day.. And even Tupac said Rakim is the best....Nas said it....
A hard choice, they are both great in thier own field... Tupac with his gangsta image and rebel-like attitude.. And Rakim with his teacher-like, laid back style with insane rhyme-scheme's, multies similies and sick concepts....

Hard choice, it depends on what you like... They both had great messages, but in a different way

I listen to 2pac much more, just because Rakims slow flow bores me, although his lyrics are def better

Lyrically, I 100% agree and Rakim did a lot more than 2pac did for the hip hop community, people just don't realize it BUT...

I'm still a bigger fan of 2pac than Rakim, 2pac just brings emotion that I have not seen ANY other rapper bring.. and plus I think bar you said something along these lines: 2pac is so distinctive that when you rap over a beat he rapped over, you can't help but rap like him.

And I don't know if it's fair to say Rakim did more for Hip-Hop than Pac did. I think they both had a great amount of influence on the culture.

Rakim started the damn thing. Rappers (at least the good ones) would not be rapping the way they are if Rakim hadn't come out with Paid In Full and Follow the Leader.

But imagine Hip-Hop without 2Pac... ... Yeah, I don't want to do that. It scares me.

I'm not saying that 2pac didn't do anything for hip hop, but Rakim did a lot more for the birth of hip hop, 2pac just mastered it.

listen to both alot

rakim is basically perfect on his records, never skips a beat
people say pacs lyrics were poor but i feel you dont need amazing multies to be a good lyricist
pac makes me think alot about the shit he said on his song

both in different eras too

rakim was in the old school era and pac was in the gangsta era

but i gots to say

2Pac
