id like to add a little actually...

really anyone who brings up slavery or segregation to make people feel sorry for them...it makes your whole race look bad in the end...

BUT if im a boss looking to hire someone and 2 people come into my office 1 black 1 white...whoever is more qualified will get the job...but we have seen way to many times where the white guy gets the job and black guy bitches and gets a million dollar settlement check, or when the black guy gets the job if the white guy bitches he gets called a racist and can't get a job anywhere because of what people think of him...

:smoking:

I completely agree with you yoshi. And you're right, it is about social status, but for some reason people make it about race because it's the easy excuse. It's the universal cop out for minorities, so it's NEVER their fault. It's horse shit.

The reason is that it's easier to call someone 'racist' than admit that you're wrong or you have fucked up. We had a black guy at work once, he worked for like 2 weeks. Everyone was scared to ask him to do something or tell him he did something wrong, because of the racial issue. It was crazy, because when I got employed I did the worst job for the first week. So did everyone else at the very beginng. And all of sudded we got a black guy and no one can tell him anything..

Minorities turn into the racial issue whenever they feel somehow endangered or they know they won't achieve anything or try to get public attention when what they say or want is irrelevant and they're perfectly aware of it. And then the majority is this bad 'guy' opressing poor scared minority with no rights.

got to agree with nearly everything said man.

but on the point of pro-minority turning into anti-majority, its a cycle that cant be broken. if your a small band of people fighting for something bigger and trying to get what the majority have its hard to gain support from that majority, not because there "racists" or "against men" its because 80% of that majority really dont have a clue what you want or care for that matter, out of 1000 people 10 will have the knowledge and drive to care enough to help a small minority and give them time to explain there views, then maybe 30 will be angry enough to be against it, the rest really wont give 2 shits coz they'll be living there life hapilly and not wanting to get involved or basically they dont have a clue whats goin on.

so to grab people's attention and get more of that 1000 people to get involved in anywae possible you either attack something they care about or a view that they may accept more clearly when seen in extreme circumstances..or attack them directly then you gain more hate and that hate makes your point bigger to the average person who will then start to care and support or hate you.

but in the minority's eye any sort of attention to get your point across is good attention.

aint saying its right, just no one had commented on how this cycle happens and sort of made it out that the people who turn it into anti-majority are bad or close minded people when i say they arent, there just desperate in looking for ways to acheive what they want and usually deserve. not all the time but most the time thats how i see it.

I agree with this. I also agree with James R. you had very good points in your writing.

I'd also like to add to what Sticcy said and say that I feel the reverse-racism, almost prejudice against whites/men is the same thing as we were doing before, and it doesn't make sense. Colleges have to first accept so many minorities, which makes sense but at the same time might allow a white kid who had better grades or whatever to get accepted to the school. Also with jobs, certain jobs people are told to hire so many minorities/woman, again it makes sense, but at the same time it's wrong because it doesn't allow people who have worked for the position to get the job they deserve. Obviously, like Sticcy said, the better man deserves the job, whether white or black, man or woman, I just think that the new prejudice against white males is unfair just because of what white males did years ago. Just my thoughts on this.

There's another point of view to that, so when someone says Men are better than Women at let's basketball or soccer, you might be offended by that. But you've heard of housewives and such, but you never hear of househusbands, because it's not cool for a man to depend on a wife but the other way around is all fine and dandy.

Bar you're completely right. I hadn't thought of it like that, but it makes it make a lot more sense.

Emadyvilly I totally agree with your post except for this part.

Emadyville wrote:reverse-racism

It's not reverse, it's just racism. Feeling your race is superior or another is inferior for any reason is racism.

TruEmFan wrote:James, have you ever read that NY Times article "Is Obama the end of Black politics?" It's really good, it touched a lot on what you were saying. It's sort of silly if Black people complain about being oppressed by "the man" since there's a black man in the White House. These things happen on a much smaller scale too... My black friends joke all the time when something doesn't go their way "It's 'cause I'm black, huh???" So it's not like they're not aware of it.

I honestly don't think the young people use the excuse of slavery and all that in life. If anything, it's mostly the older generation that is still hung up on it. I remember before Obama became president, there was such an age difference in his supporters. A lot of the older black activists didn't support Obama 'cause he wasn't "black enough" and all this shit, which is understandable because they grew up in the Civil Rights era and whatnot. Racism is still a part of them, and I can't blame that.

It's the same thing with feminism... Women are still being discrimnated against, so sometimes, the "men bashing" just comes out. Things have gotten better, genders have become more equal, but come on, I turn on the radio and still hear "Fuck bitches. Slap her with a dick." I can't blame a woman for getting angry about that.

While I agree that racism is slowly going away (My president is black ) the other topics that you listed, feminism and immigrants, are all still very relevant. So I think it's somewhat justified if people honestly use that, not necessarily as an "excuse" in life, but to just make a point about society.

I see your point and younger black people don't rely on slavery as much as they do race. But if you listen to those that don't achieve you'll see that a lot of them just resign to this thought that because they're black unless they rap or play a sport they'll never be anything JUST because they're black and it makes me sick. Sexism is still far more relevant than racism and I can see how anyone affected by sexism could be pissed (I was pissed when I was confronted by racism). But at the same time I see way too many cases when sexism ISN'T involved and a man just does the job better than a female and gets the promotion. But nonetheless I can definitely agree with you.
