Postby fearless31666 » Nov 13th, '08, 01:14

Live Nation, the touring giant, plans to start a new business selling music online. Live Nation recently signed major deals with Jay-Z and Madonna plus started their own ticketing service, now they want to compete with iTunes. The company is expected to sell unprotected MP3s from three of the four major labels including Sony, Universal and EMI. Planning to draw traffic from artists websites that they have deals with, a feature that iTunes hasn't really done yet.

Live Nation will launch the site through their MusicToday division allowing fans to a direct link to artists like the Rolling Stones, Grateful Dead and the Dave Matthews Band. Once their plan is fully in motion, Live Nation plans to bring fans more content on artist pages including videos, blogs and images. No release date is set yet for the new venture.
