So Ludacris and Kanye are dropping the same day. It's not some hyped up bullshit or anything, but I feel like Kanye is probably terrified Ludacris is going to outsell him. I mean if he outsells Luda he won't care, but if he doesn't then that means he's going to have something to bitch about. They're going to be in the same awards show brackets and everything and I bet Kanye has this entire publicized competition going on between him and Luda in his head right now. What do you guys think?

Luda is a very pop-friendly artist and a lot of people aren't sure what the make of Kanye's shit. I'm just going by what I read and see and I see Ludacris outselling it simply because he has a huge fan base (I mean almost all of his albums are multi-platinum) and he appeals to everyone. You can't really find someone that doesn't like at least ONE Luda song. You probably can't find someone that's not bumpin either of his singles. I really don't see 808's and Heartbreak selling more than 1.5 million if that. I see Theater of the Mind selling probably 2 million. They'll both go gold 1st week but I'm thinking Luda will get closer to 750,000 while Kanye will sit at like 600,000-700,000

I don't see Luda going gold the first week. I just don't. He had more hype with Release Therapy because Money Maker got good radio play and it seemed that he was truly "changing" on that album too (cut his hair too), and he stil just sold 300,000+. Factor in the fact that record sales are in its worst state ever... Fuck, I'd be surprised if Theatre of the Mind did the same numbers like Release Therapy did.

As far as overall sales ... I don't know. You could be right about Luda having the advantage... Didn't 50 outsell Kanye when the whole Graduation/Curtis thing happened? But I can't see Luda surpassing Kanye the first week.

I don't even see why you're comparing the two. Even saleswise. Kanye's on a different level (and I don't mean that in a sense he's a better musician). I only see Luda on MTV and BET. He also did this thing with Tommy Lee on TLC, but that was just weird... Anyway, Kanye's more than just a rapper. I mean, dude was on Ellen. And I see him on all the Entertainment Gossip shows all the time. He's a celebrity, so he immediately gets the advantage when it comes to sales.

... GNR's got some fans though. Old fans too. Ones that still buy music. They'll make them #1.

We'll just have to see.
