You CAN get famous off Youtube and Myspace but you WON'T

If you're one of those people that wants to take your rhyming and make some money off of it then this post is specifically for you. We live in the technological age and because of that we're afforded more luxuries and options when we want to "get noticed" or "make it". It's probably 90 times more difficult to get rich off of rap now because of this and that means you're going to have to up your game.

Myspace, soundclick, and youtube will help you get out there but they won't do it for you. If you're not out there grinding every day then you don't deserve to make it. People get comfortable sitting at their desks, in their comfy chairs, or sitting at their couch with a plate full of toaster strudels and a bag full of chips, and they forget about the fact that something more is necessary. The only way to get exposed is to go out there and do shows EVERYWHERE possible for free or for pay and get a buzz. Get a CD with 6 amazing songs on it and push it for a couple bucks and have your myspace, facebook, youtube, and soundclick printed on the inside cover.

The internet should never EVER become the main focus of your pursuit of success and happiness, it should only ever compliment it. Keep people updated about what you're doing. Keep your page updated. Make sure people that give a shit about you are able to keep up on things with you. Have your friends advertise. Do whatever you can possibly do to progress with the tools technology has given us, but don't forget about how important it is to get out there and connect with the world.

Well said. Me and Maybe were talkin' about this a couple weeks ago, and it's soo true. If you're not doin' anything locally, or anywhere else for that matter, your chances deffinetly arn't gonna be as good if you really want to be a professional rap artist.

Next year I'm taking things further with my music, going to try get some tracks on radio, perform, get my "Blitznext" crew on the Aus map, distribute our Albums/Mixtapes, copyright all our work to. I'm also planning on moving out from my parents, Hybrid Purity (aka Restlesswon aka the other face of the Blitznext crew) and I are planning on moving together (no homo -_-). It's only best if were at same place, cause were building a home studio, buying all the equipment needed, get a job to support ourselves etc. So best better believe when I say 09 is my year.

not all people have 3 and thats you get bogus artist, Jay-z, nas, eminem ect. have had all 3 at one point and thats why they made it.

now someone like royce da 5'9 has 2, drive and skill...his luck is terrible and thats why he aint ever blown up yet.

the best way for anyone to go about making it, is be yourself get your zone your style untill you happy with it, then jump out into the scene for a bit see the reaction then get back into your zone and perfect yaself more, this is the hardest bit imo, coz you got to see what ya doin right and wrong, once you got it sorted you do everything mentioned and drive for everything do anything possible to get heard then just hope you have a little bit of luck to get heard by the right people. youll never force your way to the top it never happens, thats why there's a underground scene, these guys got all the skill and drive in the world but no luck then become bitter because they feel overlooked...witch they are but thats just life.

And before the internet when people wanted to make it they told you to do shows and make CDs and get involved with PEOPLE not avitars. Myspace is a GREAT tool but it should only be to compliment your grind, not replace it.

what's the difference from getting a million viewers on youtube and getting 1000 people at your shows?

yes maybe the latter is a bit more advanced, but getting a million viewers is pretty damn respectable and if you disagree, that means your to arrogant to realize the advanced of technology and using it for self benefit.

Just think about back in the day. What if someone said, no you can't record your music... that's not respectable, the only way someone should sign you is if you just rap at shows and get people to come to watch you... it's not cool if people buy a 1 million copies of that recroding.

You're totally missing my point. Myspace and youtube ALONE will not bring you success. It can't REPLACE getting out there and pushing your CDs and doing shows and shit. But the chances of you making a music myspace and finding that success thru sitting on your ass at your computer screen is slim to none. I don't have a problem with it being your main tool. I mean, internet is the biggest marketing tool, why not take advantage of that? I understand that your saying that they need other things and I agree with that, but the way your making it sound is it's not cool to start up your success through this. I feel if this is your starting/key block then it's fine, as long as your able to spread out from there and be able to succeed in other areas, likes concerts/shows for example.
