I feel if this is your starting/key block then it's fine, as long as your able to spread out from there and be able to succeed in other areas, likes concerts/shows for example.

The main point is that you can't be one dimensional, which we agree on. We'll just agree to disagree about which is better between net and reality

oh no, Reality imo IS A LOT BETTER... shiiit net mc's are almost as homo as online relationships.... i just dont have a problem with net mc's, i dont mind sajjad or chris or ax-d or anyone else on this site, cause they're doing their thing, they're just using the help of someone online rather than in real life.

well yea, me and mart have 60k views on our white country remix, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything if we can't produce like that in real life, cause yes internet sells but everyone knows money is made through touring.

Yeah there isn't a Tash or Syanied or Comeeta (producers i work with online) in my area and a beat is a beat, doesn't matter where you get it from, main thing is your willing to help another. I get what your saying though.

I pretty much agree

I remember back in my beginning days i believed in this, but Maybe kinda showed me it was bullshit. Even back in the day, it was hard to get a foot in the door; now it's fucking near impossible.

Internet plays do mean something, yeah. But face it; about 95% of all videos on YouTube that have a massive amount of views have them for one reason: because people are watching the videos and laughing at them. Think about it: you think Tay Zonday is a respected musician after his 20+ million views? No, he only got so much fame thanks to 4Chan to begin with. If you get famous through the Internet, you'll have your 15 minutes and that'll be it.

Don't get me wrong the Internet has been massive helpful for musicians to thrive; i'd probably be doubly shit if i hadn't been using the Internet since i began rapping. But as a tool to get labels to notice you, it's not really that good. Sure, Soulja Boy made it, but that's just a testament to the way that real life is beginning to turn into the Internet; Crank Dat was basically just one looooong meme.

I used to have dreams of being signed and getting famous, too; but with the Internet, it isn't going to happen. Not only are there so many more musicians out, but the vast majority of people download music anyway so it's hard to sell. So i don't do music for money or fame now, i just do it purely because i want to. And if i can do a few gigs and make a few notes through that, then that suits me.

tl;dr, you can get famous off the Internet, but only as a joke and meme.

your forgetting sean kingston and soulja boy.

sean kingstons blew up ON MYSPACE and got signed.

Soulja boy blew up ON YOUTUBE and got signed

Amy macdonald was goin very low key shows and hadnt printed a cd, but a record producer heard her song on her myspace and she got signed.

i agree with the idea this thread puts out, but i still say it doesnt matter were the grind is, if its getting enough attention record labels take attention. if your telling me a record label wont take a chance on unsigned artist with 2 million youtube hits, and 1 million myspace hits, on 1 song, then your wrong.

you (of all people on this site) should know the way a record label plays that is to buy the rights of that one song, release it officialy to the charts and if it blows up on that level they sign the guy on for a album.

also A&R's now a days to save money scour youtube and myspace to get the scoop on artists, if you think they still only go to guys who are creating buzz in there town your wrong, the internet is much faster and cheaper for a A&R also alot safer, because, as im sure you know, when a artist flops its the A&R who backed him who ends up without a job.

Next year I'm taking things further with my music, going to try get some tracks on radio, perform, get my "Blitznext" crew on the Aus map, distribute our Albums/Mixtapes, copyright all our work to. I'm also planning on moving out from my parents, Hybrid Purity (aka Restlesswon aka the other face of the Blitznext crew) and I are planning on moving together (no homo -_-). It's only best if were at same place, cause were building a home studio, buying all the equipment needed, get a job to support ourselves etc. So best better believe when I say 09 is my year.

PS: Your welcome bro and thank you right back at ya cause you increased my confidence in doing so.

Good luck man, I'll deff do my best to support you guys. :y:

Then why does your quality suck?

Good fucking point, and also if you were saying that to me, than fuck off, I already told you I don't need NO help from anyone on this site as to advertise or shit like that, (for peeps who I'm cool with this isn't directing at you). And I damn sure don't want your shitty quality so go fuck yourself. :y:

Ummm. Partially correct, mostly wrong. And I say this with respect, but also knowledge on the subject. Sean Kingston's Grandfather or some shit is/was a great producer, that happened to recommend him as well as pass his cd to a label head, so he doesn't count. That's like saying Bow Wow got famous on myspace.

No one said anything about "town" buzz. Who cares about your hometown right? You need to push yourself. Myspace is an advertisement tool, but since labels make more money off of your tours, they want to know that you can sell tickets. Which is how Soulja boy got signed, he was already pushing thousands of fans locally. Which was a gateway. Like said here, youtube/myspace.... just assisting tools, not in any way your gate to success.

partially correct ? lol, soulja boy only pushed fans coz of his dance on YOUTUBE that blew up. about sean kingston, his contacts helped i suppose i never knew that but either way his main thing was myspace.

also you say mostly wrong then dont tell me were im wrong. apart from kingston im right, so mostly right, and partially wrong is what you ment.
