I think he's boring as hell. He has a decent following, but he'll never be huge in my opinion. He's very political with what he talks about. He's a college kid who raps for fun and is extremely average, but gets blown up because he's white and doesn't suck. Also doesn't hurt that he's had a mixtape or two with DJ Drama. But that's just my thoughts on him.

yep I some what agree with you, I mean when I first saw him with akon and luda I was like damn he must be good to be able to hang with them, tho I found his mixtape “the greenhouse effect” on YouTube and I’m speechless… he's way too overrated.... Also he’s got a track called “battle me” I know dre prod the instrumental tho who for? did Dre prod that beat for Asher? :o cause I think I've heard it somewhere but can't remember where

Dude's pretty tight. I downed the Greenhouse Effect about 3 weeks ago, and he is pretty decent. Not no genius, but he's just starting so I'll think he'll get better with age and experience. He atleast HAS potential, unlike some of these other guys who are ruining the genre.

he's different...my first thoughts were, "PG rated version of Eminem"...but I like him, he's got some creative flows like the one about all the cartoon chix he wanna do lol. One thing tho, a lot of black people respect Eminem cuz of where he came from, Asher Roth might have a problem with that lol but teenage girlies are gonna be on his nuts once his album drops

I guess, though I don't think that should be a factor...

He actually kinda has a point. I mean Eminem was in with the hardcore hip-hop fans because of Dre, and then because he got on a track with Jay-Z. It won't make a difference in sales because most black people (from my experiences with myself, friends, and family) don't buy albums if they can avoid it lol. I think it'll just be harder for him to get a real reputation since he won't have that pass. I mean DJ Drama said he was dope, so people checked for him a bit because of that, but I don't think he speaks to enough fan bases as shown vividly by his lack of connection with black people. But now I'm just getting into repeating what I've already said lol. Deucez

great point James... though more than 70% of hip-hop albums are purchased by whites and considering dude’s in with akon and other popular artists/Djs I think he might just make a name for himself though this remains to be seen

i think your rating him to harshly right now, hes only boring if ya dont connect with him.

"that party last night was offly crazy i wished we taped it
i danced my ass of and has this one chick completely naked
ill dirnk my beer and smoke my weed but my good freinds is all i need
pass out at 3 wake up at 10 go out to eat then do it again"

^he's connecting with millions of 16-25 year olds, thats his age range imo, when thats how your living and you listen to loads of ashers songs about shit like this (roth boys ect.) hes dope as hell so i think he can make it huge, hes got the backing and he can connect with alot of fans.

he needs to step up his overall flow and lyrics imo, but on "i love college" he showed he had stepped up from the geenhouse effect, also he showed he has the versatility and creativity to make it and stay fresh, cartoon chicks was dope and he rapped on britneys spears's gimme more beat, he also tackled the " a millie" beat nicely with a good switch in concept "a millie here a millie there yeh you got a mil but for real dog nobaby cares"

also he got a good sense of humor and tackles the poloitical side nicely.

i think hell blow and once he got a budget and consisten label hell be dope as hell.

I think you're completely right. He is pretty good for people that are in college partying every Wednesday-Sunday night, but I feel like past that, he's been quite boring. Talking about screwing cartoon girls is cool I guess, but the song was far from dope. When I think dope I think of making me go "holy shit I can't believe that line" and he's never even come close to making me do that. He has some decent tracks, and I think he's a decent rapper (at best imo), but I don't see him becoming a household name because while he's attracting that 16-25 crowd he's not going past that. You'll find 8 yr olds that love Jay-Z as much as 40 yr olds whether they're black, white, hispanic, or asian. Eminem has an even wider fan base.

I don't like him so of course I'm biased, but he's never impressed me. Any beat that he's been on that anyone else has been on he's been outshined. I prefer Fabolous, Jay, and Cassidy over his. And it's not just because they have bigger names. They just honestly killed the beat. His mixtape with DJ Drama was sooo averaged compared to sooo many others. He's good for his audience and I won't diss that. But as an overall rapper I don't see him rapping about the type of shit that's relevant even to his audience sometimes. I mean ok politics, cool, who cares after a certain point? He has some clever lines that are funny and still make a point, but those are far outweighed by the lines that are just plain boring. But this is all my opinion. Neither of us are right or wrong.
