I love the book. It's really good. However, I have to disagree, the movie is also really good, but a different take. The movie is surreal and is a great horror film in it's own right. I remember the intro music to that film completely gave me the creeps. You're absolutely right that they leave out some important bits and add in some of their own stuff (the creepy twins). Another thing they don't really talk about in the film is the alcoholism that Jack had, which if I remember was important to Stephen King. He emphasized how a lot of Jack's actions were also because of his alcohol problems. Anyways, great book.

Hands down for King, really. I love the suspension which goes through the whole book. I finished the book in like 2 days, because I just couldn't put it down. I got scared shittles when I was reading the 'redrum' part :sweating:

This book was pure creepy, I still can't walk down a long very brightly lit corridor without thinking of this book. I love in the movie though when Jack Nickelson jumps out and says, "Here's Johnny!!!". Pure classic moment, you got to know if that an author is so scared by their own books that they leave all the lights on their house, then they got to be the shit, and crazily psychotic!
