-Don't worry, even I'm not quite sure what I'm doing in this movie. I just like wandering in a desert with a big gun.
*WARNING CONTAINS SPOILERS FOR CASINO ROYALE*
Summary- Immediately following the story of Casino Royale, Bond attempts to take vengence for the death of his prior girlfriend Vesper. He eventually tracks down a man named Dominic Greene and attempts to stop him from helping a Bolivian general overthrow the government of Bolivia. The problem is, M and the British government believe Bond has become too wild to control and are trying to track him down and stop him. Bond not only has to stop the enemies this time, but he also has to clear his name.
Review- I absolutely loved Casino Royale because of the new direction the movie has taken. Ditching the unrealistic gadgets, the new movie was more realistic and contained much more action. It seemed Quantum of Solace tried to take everything successful from Casino Royale and multiply it by 5. That may seem like a great idea, but with so much action, the movie begins to lose it’s Bond-ness. I have never seen Bond recklessly kill so many people (which is weird because he is supposed to be a spy) and there are enough action scenes to rival the Bourne series. Just to make it more clear, this is the only movie I know containing a foot chase, car chase, boat chase, and plane chase! The story is also confusing. I highly advise anyone planning to watch this to first catch up with the plot of Casino Royale because this movie’s plot literally continues where the first movie left off. Even then, the story is very convulated with 2-3 storylines going at once. Bond wants to capture Greene, clear his name from M and the British government, stop the Bolivian government from being overthrown, and find the man responsible for Vesper’s death. In fact, I’m still confused how the Quantum secret organization relates to everything. Honestly, it’s a good movie. There are also parts where the story has lots of dialouge and drags a bit. However, this movie isn’t bad, in fact it’s actually a really good movie. There’s enough action to keep one on the edge of one’s seat. However, this isn’t what I expect a Bond movie to be like and so hard-core Bond fans may be disappointed. People who love action movies will really enjoy this one though.
