I can't believe no-one's jumped on reviewing this movie...But I'm here to say the day


Forrest, Forrest Gump is a simple man with little brain activity but good intentions. He struggles through childhood with his best and only friend Jenny. His 'mama' teaches him the ways of life and leaves him to choose his destiny. Forrest joins the army for service in Vietnam, finding new friends called Dan and Bubba, he wins medals, starts a table tennis craze, creates a famous shrimp fishing fleet, inspires people to jog, create the smiley, write bumper stickers and songs, donating to people and meeting the president several times. However this is all irrelevant to Forrest who can only think of his childhood sweetheart Jenny. Who has messed up her life. Although in the end all he wants to prove is that anyone can love anyone.

Forrest Gump...what an amazing classic. Anyone who doesn't like this movie has no heart . A true triumph of the underdog and a feel-good movie.

I feel as though Forrest should have looked the other way the moment he met Jenny. However, that's not Forrest's character, he's a loving boy with a huge heart, open to anyone who's willing to accept him. Forrest on countless occassions tried to show his affection for Jenny, rescueing her from a crowd that got rowled up when she went to perform on stage naked. He talked her out of jumping off a bridge. And everyday while in Vietnam he sent her a letter trying to keep in touch with his old friend. He even asked for her hand in marriage, which she declined by saying, "Forrest, you don't want me." He tried to express his love so many times, and in-depth. He tried to express his emotions and feelings towards her, but she tossed them aside like a kleenex. Then one night she fucks him, and not to his knowledge, becomes pregnant. BTW: It was a one-night-stand, the next morning when Forest woke up, she was in the wind again. But maybe 2 or 3 years later he gets a letter asking for him to meet her at her apartment. When he arrives, he's introduced to Forest, "He's named after his daddy," Jenny states as she watches as he watches tv. She then goes on to tell Forrest she has cancer and asks him if he'll marry her. They marry and soon there after, Jenny passes.

My only problem is that Jenny only contacted Forrest when she found out she had a terminal illness. She could have contacted him earlier during her pregnancy or right after, she would know better than to think Forrest would desert her. I say she used Forest throughout the whole movie, she used him to meet her needs and for her to get where she wanted in life and to achieve what she wanted. Forest was just a by-stander who who she asked for when there were no other options...

I actually can't decide. I mean rationally Forrest shouldn't have married her because she acted like a jerk towards him. But Forrest was so innocent and naive, and his love was pure that I had to root for him. He didn't seem to care that he was abused, and was happy to finally get to be with Jenny. Like I said, it's an amazingly heart-warming story...but said too.
