Armageddon

It's Closer than you think - It is just another day at the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), a few astronauts were repairing a satellite until, out of nowhere, a series of asteroids came crashing into the shuttle, destroying it. These asteroids also decimated New York soon thereafter. Then, NASA discovered that there is an asteroid roughly the size of Texas heading towards the Earth, and when it does hit the Earth, the planet itself and all of its inhabitants will be obliterated, worse, the asteroid will hit the Earth in 18 days. Unfortunately, NASA's plans to destroy the asteroid are irrelevant. That is when the U.S. military decides to use a nuclear warhead to blow the asteroid to pieces. Then, scientists decide to blow the asteroid with the warhead inside the asteroid itself. The only man to do it, is an oil driller named Harry Stamper and his group of misfit drillers and geologists. As he and his drill team prepare for space excavation, the asteroid is still heading towards the Earth. When the crew are launched into outer space, they are determined to destroy this asteroid.

Being directed by Michael Bay gave this movie a fighting chance when it hit theaters, and the box office results didn't disappoint. If you can recall, Michael Bay also had the grand opportunity of directing Transformers, another astonishing box office hit that rocked people out their seats with the excellent acting, plot, script, cg effects, and the jaw-dropping Finale! Armageddon is what adapted the explosive theme for Transformers. The great visualizations, and how he has the gift of getting the audience to really grip the characters and relationships and actually relate to a character so much that they feel as though they are one in the movie aswell. Whenever watched by father's and daughter's all around, the climax never leaves a dry eye. Tissue boxes go empty within seconds, and even tough daddy's eyes tear up just a little.

This Movie Has An All-Starr Cast Which I'd Like To Mention:
Bruce Willis
Billy Bob Thorton
Ben Affleck
Liv Tyler
Owen Wilson
Michael Clarke Duncan

Armageddon was a great movie. It was on T.V. and I missed some parts of it though. But the ending was depressing, but amazing.

On another hand, we have very different views of Michael Bay. I like some of his movies (The Rock, Armageddon, Transformers), but he loves CGI and explosions a bit too much. Every time he comes out with a new movie I expect very little story but lots of BOOOMS and BAAANNNNGS and CGI. That said, he is a pretty safe bet for Hollywood to bank a lot of cash at the box office, because he makes great blockbusters.

Ain't that the truth, I bet the movie theater's will be rockin' with the release of Transformers 2 :smoking: I need ear-plugs just to watch his movies in theaters, the bangs and all that are to loud sometimes...
