It Was Written

Postby DrRapid » Feb 5th, '09, 21:22

Some say Nas fell off in this album up until Stillmatic came out. What do you think? Is it any good? Cause I have Illmatic and Stillmatic but I've never listened to this cause I always thought it was going to be a bad album. I'd like to know if it's actually on a good Nas level or if it is bad. Also, what about: I Am and Nastradamus?

It was written was fucking dope, I don't care what people say about it. It was on another level that has ever been shown before. The message and I gave you power are straight classics man. As for I am, don't sleep on that shit, Undying love is one of the best storytelling songs ever. Nastradamus was a bit meh imo, still enjoyable. Some of us have angels and Project windows are great tracks though. Seriously people always comparing all his albums with Illmatic, ofcourse you can't deny the fact his first was one of the sickest albums ever made, but you shouldn't degrade his other material. Imo It was written is a sick album, probably one of my favourites.

Well I'll probably download it then and if I like it I might even buy it like I did with Illmatic. I'll check it out...Nastradamus wasn't meant to be that good mainly because all his songs leaked and problems to do with that.

^lmao taking detours.

The whole I am album is great actually, people are just sleaping on his other shit 'cause Illmatic is been considered the best Nas album, even though I beg to differ... 'cause alotta songs on Illmatic could have been replaced with some better shit imo, eventhough teh whole concept was fucking dope.

Word,

I would bump Undying love any day over Starwars for example, The Message over Represent.

^Probably yes, after Tupac stole the whole sign away to the westcoast only one competteting against him were Biggie at that time. And when Nas dropped that first album everybody just was taken by surprise, no one would have predicted that a newbie ( 'cause he was back then ) could have drop a dope album like that ( and it was his first album ). So your probably right on that, it gave the east coast especially New York teh feeling that they was running the game..

plus since its a debut. like most dudes release a couple then get that one album. like sslp was good, but mmlp was the one that did it. t.i had to do a couple albums to come into his own. reasonable doubt was jays illmatic but nobody cared. it was really life n times wit big pimpin where jay z came into it, n the blueprint jus cemented it. when the first album is the one that blows u up, its hard to top it

Exactly,
Reasonable doubt was Jay's best imo, as for Em and T.I your correct, all had to go trough one album atleast to get that shine. Nas got it with his first album, and after that everything he did got compared to that album...
